It might be 17 months, but I don't think I would do another contract. The Treo and my first 6230 were the only two phones that I did with a contract, and the 6230 was a one year contract at that.

You might as well take the discount, on a PDA type of phone that is several hundred dollars. Not like you're switching carriers anytime soon, are you?

I am claustrophobic, contracts and/or locked phones make me unable to breathe! .

No, I am not switching carriers, I have been with them for almost 20 years and often times simultaneously with Verizon, T-Mobile and Sprint. I have no complaints and have yet to find another that works better or even equal for me.

AT&T seems to be pretty consistently, atleast in my area giving $75 less for one year contract and &150 less from retail on a two year contract. This has usually been independent of any rebate but for some reason they tied the $100 rebate with a 2 year contract for the Treo, making it a difference of $250. Ofcourse, sometimes they do things different like for the iPhone for example.

PS: I don't have a contract on my second line and never had irrespective of who the provider was.

You cannot love your Treo that much if you have a wandering eye for the 850 or the Blackberry, shame on you!

If I read correctly it means no service when the light blinks orange. If you are in a coverage area, just do a soft reset. It should take care of the glitch.

Yes, but on most WM devices the only way to completely turn off the device is to pull the battery. A soft reset is much better for the device and for the info in it. On the Treo the reset hole is under the battery cover.
