OK, so anyone know the registry edit to disable it?
I don't but I do have a work around. It only buzzes or dings if you have a card in the expansion slot. If you can take out the card at night and put it back in the morning, the Treo will not make any sound on it comes back on after a soft reset.
hmmm, so I wonder if I disable the sound for the memory card, it would solve the issue???

Interesting idea, how would you disable the sound for the memory card? In theory it certainly should work since the sound acknowledges the presence of the card on boot up.

I have to look back to find it, but there was a way to edit the registry to disable that sound on boot. I don't remember where I saw that though.

As of tomorrow my Treo will be the longest I have owned any GSM primary phone, 7m & 20d.

Ok, so this is a trash post but certainly on topic

Congrats Charlyee. The longest I ever kept a phone as my primary phone was 27 months, my old TDMA Motorola StarTac. I kept my TDMA V60t for exactly 24 months and 0 days, my V551 for 18 months and 0 days, LG CU320 26 hours, Motorola V3 for 3 months (Loaned it to a friend whose phone broke, and didn't qualify for an upgrade), Motorola A845 about 6 months, and iPAQ hw6515 was about a year...

I think I got you beat with the shortest time with the LG...

Hmm, not sure you have me beat with the LG, I had the 8125 for about 26 hours also.

If I count TDMA phones, then I had my Nokia 5165 the longest - 15m 8 days.

Ok, so my Treo's 8 month birthday is day after tomorrow.

Anybody have any "must have" program recommendation that haven't been post in the sticky yet, as a birthday present?

Thanks Much

Thanks budney, I downloaded the SPB Mobile Shell this morning.

Progress: I can get location on google maps, while on 3G from the grocery store, 3 miles down from the house - still nothing from home.

I'm about the same Charlyee. Nothing at home yet, but just north of here is EDGE only and the thing works fine.

Very interesting.

I tired SPB and had problems, and then when I went to uninstall it wouldn't completely uninstall. I had to hard reset to get rid of it. Have you looked at Ultimate Launcher?

Jay, I just uninstalled Mobile Shell, it worked fine but it didn't quite do what I thought it would do. I didn't have any problem uninstalling it though.

I will take a look at Ultimate Launcher, do you use it?

Thanks

I know their were problems with the beta of MS 2.0 being uninstalled for devices. But I have not heard anything like it with the released version.

One of the additional benefits being that my face does not touch the keys and so I am not getting as much make on them. Ok guys, absolutely no need to bring up the fact that 90% + WA members do not have this problem.
After 2 months of using the case, it is not working out so well now that the weather is warming up. The material is expanding making the case ill fitting and it is also starting to feel somewhat sticky.

I took the case off today and decided to use it only when I am in a known "hostile" environment.

Back to watching where I set it idown and also cleaning makeup off the keys everyday.

One benefit of taking the case off - I was getting more and more interested in the E51, and now that Treo looks entirely different, I can pretend it is a new phone and put the E51 on the backburner for a while.

Ok, I just tried the Ultimate Launch this morning, sorry Jay I don't really like it. I like my Today Screen to be as simple as possible. The Treo has so many customizable buttons to begin with and some hacked ones that I have everything I need at my finger tips.

It's within a mile for me. Close enough to be able to look at the are, but not close enough to be useful for an exact location. However, I wouldn't expect it to be with triangulation.

If anyone is using Spbwatcher with SPB Mobile Shell and want uninstall it. Do not and I mean DO NOT uninstall Mobile Shell before watcher. It will lock up your device and go on a never endling loop of error messages. The only recourse is a hard reset.

I learnt this the hard way last week.

Wow. That is not good news. Luckily you back up your data and were able to restore your device.

Wirelessly posted (Treo 750: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 7.6) UP.Link/6.3.1.17.0)

Thanks WG, budney, Jay & dmapr.

I never thought I would make it this far; my previous records were 10m, 16d (if I add the two versions of 6230 I had) & 7m, 19d for the Blackjack. (Not that I have a spreadsheet on my phones or anything like that )

Cingular/at&t made it easy for me by not having anything better or even comparable in a 3G, full PDA, qwerty keyboard device. Now with the BB BOLD & the Treo 850 in the works the situation might be different in the next 6 months.

So you might just ride this one out to the full 17 month upgrade mark then?
