For My Treo's 5 month birthday, I decided to present it with WM6, the official at&t version that was released on December 4th. I used the SD card method as recommended by Azcellphonejunkie. Thanks AZ. .

Everything went smoothly, I only had one panic moment which turned out be an "operator error".

There is some relevant didcussion on this in this thread.

Thanks for being the guinea pig and assuring me that I won't brick my Treo. I do use activesync to sync with the calendar, tasks, contacts, notes, files, favorites on my laptop. I do it over BT, I can not use the USB due to the firewalls and our IT groups standard answer of "we do not support handhelds". I also upgraded my activesync to 4.5 from 4.2 yesterday.

Much as I hate to admit it, I like the at&t wallpaper

Update: I had 19.4M of program memory left after the upgrade and navigating through the menus was choppy. WM6 has a lot more of the at&t "junk" that the WM5 did not.

I used these instructions (post 129) to remove the CapPackage & freed up about 9M and the menu navigation is smooth and noticeably faster. .

One added bonus, which I didn't see mentioned before, the E-Mail connects and sends as soon as I hit "SEND". On the WM5 version I would have to manually hit Send/receive or wait for the next time it connected.

Good to know. . I don't know if you were as enamored with the at&t WM6 theme as I was, but just in case here it is:

WM6 at&t theme.

Question: Does your Google location work after the upgrade?

Are you in an HSDPA area? If so, I haven't been able to get it to work when connected to the 3G network. However, if you go into the phone settings, services and set the band selection to GSM, it will switch the phone over to EDGE only. If you then run Google Maps, click on my location, it will pick it up. Don't know exactly why, but it doesn't seem to have the correct information on the 3G networks.

Thanks AZ, but I have always been in a 3G area and prior to the upgrade it did find my location. Now it says "your current location is temporarily unavailable". I also canot access www.googlemaps/gmm from my handset ,it boots up with a blank page.

That seems very strange. I've had no issues with the removal of the AT&T stuff. Attached is the cab file for you for the Google Maps if you need it...

Thanks much AZ, it started before I removed the at&t stuff. It was after I upgraded to WM6. I haven't had any issues with removing the at&t "junk" either.

I personally like the windows theme. It's the one that is sorta green and things turn black when you scroll over them.

I like the Today Screen in that "sorta green" also, but cannot stand the ghastly color highlights on white for that theme. .

I wanted to see if I could upload from my Treo, so here is an Excel file created on the Treo.

Hey, how about that, it worked.!!!

I am having a great time customizing my Treo and made the following made the following modification/additions in the last week:

1. TodayAgenda, very useful & customizable, and it's free.

2. Personalize Provider Name - Absolutely serves no purpose but I love it none the less.

3. Add The Seventh Hardware button - very useful, I got rid of the calendar from the Today screen and can just bring it up with the a quick press of this button.

4. Mars Weather Panel - another great free program, recommended originally by budney.

So here is what my "Today" looks like.

Do not purchase WP from that link, it is free. The developer has not been around in a few years. Thanks to storyr WP is being kept alive. You can read more about it on the link below.

Your welcome! Also be on the look out for Pocket Weather in the future. The newest version is skinable, and brings in a lot of new features. Right now it is a little buggy, but at least the PW will keep being developed

A lot of storyr's skins/themes can have traffic cams pics with updates too. A very cool feature if you commute.

I don't like putting my phone in a case, but after almost 7 months I decided to for the Treo. I got this skin case in frosted white. The cutouts are absolutely in the right locarions and it adds minimal bulk. I really like it so far.

One of the additional benefits being that my face does not touch the keys and so I am not getting as much make on them. Ok guys, absolutely no need to bring up the fact that 90% + WA members do not have this problem.

One of the additional benefits being that my face does not touch the keys and so I am not getting as much make on them. Ok guys, absolutely no need to bring up the fact that 90% + WA members do not have this problem.
I must admit that I've never had a problem of makeup rubbing off on my phones...

If you then run Google Maps, click on my location, it will pick it up. Don't know exactly why, but it doesn't seem to have the correct information on the 3G networks.
AZ, the locate me feature is now working for me in an HSDPA area. From work it says within 5000 meters so it still needs some more work I guess. Could you try yours in an HSDPA area and see what you get?

Thanks

Well look at that, it's working for me now! I hadn't gotten it to work on HSDPA before today. However, it is close to 1/2 mile off from where I am. That being said, at leat it's something.

I'll have to try it when I get home as well.

Thanks for pointing it out that it may be working in some 3G areas now!

I just tried it on my Tilt with a 3G connection and it said "Your location within 1700 meters" and it showed me about a block away from my actual location. Not too bad.

On a side note I now know why you like the Treo 750. When I was looking up info on modding my Tilt I came accross the following information. HTC makes the 750! Its codename is the HTC Cheetah.

Palm Treo 750v (HTC Cheetah) Specs | Technical Specifications | PDAdb.net - Comprehensive Database of PDA, PDA Phone, PNA & Smartphone Specifications
