I searched and i'm suprised i didnt see anything. Theres got to be another thread such as this. My questions is which would work better and why for my situation. Im use to using windows over linux. I have used a windows based pda and it was quite nice. And i used a palm tungsten e2 and it was pretty good. I didnt like to have to carry arounda pda and a phone. Too much to cary around. So i want to consolidate. The main reason I am doing this is i need something to keep customer information on mostly phone numbers and emails. I would have some word and excell docs and probably some pdf docs as well. I use office 2003 at work and 2007 at home. So i'm going to have some personal info on it, business info and some from my work. So overall its business use. I'm not looking for something to play a bunch of games on. But I would like to have good tools for business things. I am just not sure which would be better a the windows based 700wx or linux based 700p. I also have a bluetooth H700 headset that i will need to use. And of course i wont be getting it till my contract is up in about 6 to 7 months. Has anyone heard of any better pda phones comming out in that time? Thanks again -Dave |

I wanted to make sure you had at least one response, so I'm gonna throw my 5 cents in. Go with Windows Mobile if you can over Palm OS, Palm's os is slightly stale and it seems that a lot of developers are focusing in on Windows Mobile as it's easy to program for. Best of luck on making your decision, hopefully someone with more specific knowledge about the Palm's will be able to help more.

I went into the alltel store by work and played with the wx version and the p version and i think i am more compfortable with the windows version. I do have to say i dont like having to click the windows key > System > then like memory to constantly close applications. I didnt get to spend but 30 min with them. I wonder if you can put a shortcut of the memory program on like the main screen or something. I would think you could.

Praetorian - Check out my threads in the PPC app recommendation thread that is stickied in this forum. Most of my picks are geared for the 700wx. By what you are wanting I would also check out the Motorola Q smartphone. It is better with bluetooth, gaming, and screen sharpness. Also you can find free programs and hacks to do most things you can do on a regular PPC device.

Hey I was also wondering. I'm with alltel. I see more sprint 700wx phones for sale then alltel. What if i buy the sprint 700wx cdma phone i know it will work with alltel but what is the difference in software? Like when i bought my V3m the alltel had everything unlocked but sprint or whoever locked most of the stuff. And on that note. What is the success rate on reformatting the sprint 700wx into the alltel firmware? What are your thoughts on that? |
