Exclamation Hi i want to purchase the 8125 from cingular but i have tmobile....

i just got off the phone with tmobile and the rep said that if i purchase that phone there are some chances that the phone capabilities such as internet etc... will not work with tmobile whether it be because tmobile doesnt support those functions vice versa..... but isnt the 8125 from cingular the same as the Tmobile MDA?

Please help me...... is this true that my phone wont work properly..... does anyone have this PDA?

Thank you in advanced....

No...they are very different in their respective carrier implementation. You will need to change the settings to match T-zones and even then, it won't be fully compatible. Not only that, you will need to have the device unlocked, unless you purchase the unlocked/unbranded version.

If I were you, look into the upgraded version HTC TyTn...Cingular's version is the 8525.

Remember, get the HTC variant and not the 8125. The HTC version is the Wizard. You will need to change the GPRS settings which T-Mo should be able to help you set up.

Not to be overly dramatic here, but hiddendragon you make it seem like a much harder task than it is, T-Mobile has all the settings for GPRS and Media Messaging on their support site. With WM5 changing these settings is fairly simple. Furhter, as long as the phone is unlocked everything else will work fine (text messaging, voicemail notifications, calls, etc.)

Lastly, the 8525 isn't much better than the wizard save UMTS and a bit better camera and proccessor, it's got very specific firmware applications for Cingular such as CV and PTT, which wont work on Tmobile. For the price difference I WOULD NOT recommend purchasing the 8525 for T-Mobile useage, as the UMTS frequencies the 8525 supports do not include T-Mobile's 1700mhz announced frequency. In other words you'd pay an additional 300 bux for something you can't use on your carrier. Also if you want, one of the guys on XDA is rewritting his unlocker for WM5 to support CID Unlocking (unlocking the firmware to where you can reflash the phone to something other than the native carriers) what this means is you could take the 8125 and flash it with T-Mobile firmware. I will update here once the CID unlock is finished.

I didn't think any phones had the 1700 Mhz support yet, since it hasn't been deployed here in the US till late in 07 & I don't think any manufactures have made any US version 1700Mhz phones yet.

You're probably right about the 8525 being overkill on the T-Mo network. To the original OP, why not just get T-Mobile's version to begin with?
