Default Cingular 8525 reviews from actual owners

I've read a number of threads here about those buying the HTC (non-Cingular) manufacturer's version. I'm interested in hearing reviews from those who bought the Cingular 8525. I found only one review on another forum and it was not good.

I want to hear the good, the bad and the ugly.

I found several reviews of the phone on CNET. Appears split nearly 50/50. Those that have specific comments all mentioned that phone "locking up" or "freezing." Another mentioned lousy response from the touch-screen, which I've noticed in many PDAs.

Guess I'll have to search further. I'm not really a fan of the Palm OS, so that kind of limits my choices.

I recently switched from the Sprint PPC6700 to the Cingular 8525. I am extremely happy with the service and the Phone, except for the USB jack on the phone. My PPC6700 had a Mini-B and the 8525 has some proprietary plug that makes it somewhat inconvenient to sync & charge.

That is just my one little rant!

After some further playing this morning, I noticed that I can use the Mini-B USB plug in this wierd proprietary jack.

I now have nothing to complain about!

I just purchased the 8525 from Cingular, and only have had it a couple of hours.
I too read the 50/50 reviews on CNET.
But most negative reviews seamed to be comparing PDAs to it.
It's NOT a PDA but a WM5 phone with PDA features.
I mainly got it for the bigger screen than smaller smartphones, and the keyboard.
I also wanted an organizer, good websurfing phone, and possible GPS and XM radio for my car.
I started out with a T-Mobile Dash, then went to a BlackJack, and now am settled with the 8525.
I couldn't be happier, so far.
If you want me to test out anything on the phone for you, let me know.

3G on the 8525 for me is great!
I Have a thread where I ran a bench test on wifi and cable, and 3G with the 8525 in this thread (Dash(AKA HTC Excaliber) vs. the Samsung Blackjack).
I compare 3 phones, the Dash, the BlackJack and 8525, plus my wifi laptop!
The 8525 seams to be the winner so far(not over the laptop though )!

I am sooooo embarrassed. I really ought-ta know better, having been on this board for so long.

I got a coupon that in bold, orange type was "$200 off any phone" or something to that effect. I took it to the local store where, for the first time with the sales rep, we read the fine print, which essentially said, discount based on normal discounts to resubscribing customers and then went on to babble some legal double talk.

Bottom line, the coupon wouldn't even give me one penny of a discount. The only thing I qualified for was the normal rebates already being extended to anyone. My "loyality" (which is what the coupon claimed to focus on) was worth diddly squat.

I had the sales person add up what would have been the total sale (the 8525 for me ($400+), a new blue-tooth enabled LC flip for my wife and a new Plantronics bluetooth headset. Nearly $800. I was also going to get the internet plan for an extra $35/month.

I walked out of the store with nothing. I am not mad, but I am a little miffed that we aren't helping our image any with customers by offering discounts that really translate to nothing.
