Default Treo 700w + wired headset

anybody have any problems with this. It seems that two of our 700w's are having problems with that wired headset that come with it.

If we plug it in, and call or recieve a call we can hear the other person, but noone can hear us when we speak through that wired headset. I know the headset is fine, tried it on a E815 and it worked good. Also recieved a replacement through verizon and it was still the same issue.

Just out of curiosity do you have Microphone AGC (automatic gain control) enabled? if not turn it on see if it helps if so turn it off. That's usually a potential drama causer when you're constantly swapping headsets like I am.

Did you try the headset that came with the 700w? The Treo has a very slight difference in the jack compared to most standard 2.5mm jacks. It's so slight I can't tell the difference. The reason I know this was my PPC6700 had a standard 2.5mm jack which I had a stereo adapter for. It worked great on other regular phones with stereo (Like the E815). But when I wanted a headset with a 3.5mm plug for regular headphones & volume control, I couldn't find one. When my interest peaked on the 700wx I took both headsets to the store that I bought for my 6700. To my luck they worked great. And was one of the main reasons I switched.

Yeah it's under the system tab in settings in WM5 devices.

FYI, Their is no AGC setting on the Treo.

Treo changed and customized WM5 quite a bit. A lot of settings found on most HTC devices are changed or not present on the Treo.

J Ellis, I would take it in to a Sprint store and have then take a look at it. More then likely it is defective.

In that case I have to agree with you budney,

although I have to wonder if someone were to go into the registry if it's a simple matter of deleting a redirect because AGC is definetly a MS default.

No question about it, you could hack it to bring it up in the OS. Treo/Palm have done a wonderfull job in tweaking WM5, but I think sometimes they are still in the world of the Palm OS.
