Default Microsoft Voice Command 1.5

Ok for a long time I was mistakenly under the Impression that my HTC Wizard's Voice Dial was Microsoft Voice Command (didn't know better) and hated it because you had to train everything. During a read through on cnet's reviews earlier I ran accross my 8125's discussion board and saw the discussion on MS Voice Command and how it was so great and bla bla, gave it a shot and bought it online. I don't think I'd ever go back now, MS's Voice command is extremely good, I'm sure it'll improve in the future, but for the time being, universal command, generic commands, and response time is wonderful... Just figured I'd share my opinion on this

Ye I love it too. It's amazing on my Xda Exec. You can ask it what time it is, what are my missed calls. You can even ask it to play music; all this without even training it with voice commands. I would recommend it to any PPC user.

Personally my favorite is, "What is my next appointment" "What is my schedule or What are my appointments today" and "What are my appointments tomorrow" the fact that you don't have to train is awesome.

It usually works quite well. The only time it doesn't is while TomTom is running. I'm guessing that TomTom probably takes up a good percentage of the iPAQ's resources, and that's why it doesn't work.

Default Re: Microsoft Voice Command 1.5

Found this on XDA Developers, figured I'd share:
I can activate VC 1.5 on my 8125 via bluetooth using this registry hack:
Open up a registry entry program such as Total Commander 2.0.
Then go to
“HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\VoiceCommand\Path ”.

Change the default value from
“\Windows\SDDialer.exe” to
“\Program Files\Voice Command\VoiceCMD.exe”.
Now you should be able to activate Micrsoft Voice Command by
pressing the connect button on your bluetooth headset

Works on 8125, I'd assume other devices using wm5 have similar keys.

Have you seen anything similar for Win Mobile 2003? I'd like to mod my HP iPAQ 6515 to work over bluetooth.

Thanks, Jay

I surely haven't bro, but I'm sure there's a hack or a registry key for it, you might wanna ask on pdaphonehome. May even wanna check if you have something similar like that on your iPAQ.

One thing I'd like to add is if you are using a bluetooth headset or car kit, there is an accompanying software that will allow you to toggle MSFT Voice Command v1.5. The software is from Jetware and the combination works excellent! Have been using both now for a couple of months and it is so convenient to just have the headset on and dial the phone without letting go of the steering wheel!

You should upgrade to the Voice Command 1.6 native support for Bluetooth and much better voice detection algorythms.

There are other functions that come with the Jetware solution: http://www.jetwaremobile.com/index.htm.

Very nice and useful addition, however, I did post a hack to allow activation from Bluetooth without the need to purchase software and the point I was trying to make earlier was that 1.6 natively supports it as well as fixes some other gripes. Please note if 1.5 is activated by bluetooth, no matter whether it's with hack or with this app, it still pulls information from the onboard microphone, this is something fixed in 1.6. Anybody that feels the need to trully become a voice command on their phone should definetly look into this app however.
