Default unlocked 8125

I am a Cingular customer and plan on moving to tmobile when my contract is up. I am considering purchasing an unlocked 8125. Are there any issues that I should be ware of before making the purchase? I want to make sure the unit will work on the cingular and tmobile networks for web access.

Thanks in advance

Their should be no problem at all. You will just need to find the setting and manually enter them in.

BTW, to WA!

haha... it's alright. Granted, he might buy that phone early and want to set it up on Cingular to try it out so no harm done.

hello, i am new to this forum and i have some questions on this issue... i am a verizon customer and bout to move to t-mobile because "it's NOT the network" and plus my brother wants the sidekick and t-mobile is the only provider that has it. any the who, i want to get the unlocked 8125 and use it on the t-mobile network cuz i think it's better than the MDA... (like the rectangular-ness and the keypads). so i read that you CAN use the 8125 on the t-mobile network. so do i have to buy the t-mobile data plan service thingy to use all the sms and IM and text and internet stuff? like would tmobile let me do that even though i didn't buy their phone? how would i go about doing that? like i get the whole thing about getting the unlocked 8125 and setting the ip stuff manually, but like i'm new to this gsm stuff so can somebody please tell me how it works and how i go about actually getting 8125 to work on t-mobile and use it..

thank you in advanced and sorry for babbling alot...

To use an unlocked 8125 on T-Mobile is very simple. You have a SIM card that you put into the 8125 from T-Mobile (you get the SIM when you sign up for service) and your phone number is then on the device. You will need a data plan for any internet activity on the device, and a separate SMS plan for the text messages. T-Mobile will not necessarily care that you are using a phone that isn't thiers, but then again, they don't really have a choice which phone you put your SIM in.

Yes, that is all thats required.

And the data plan is a add-on, it is not seperate thing.

And by the way the 8125 and MDA are the same phones, but just different styling. It may be best to get the MDA as you will be able to put insuance on your phone, and also T-Mobile will not help you if you have any problems with it. So you will be completely on your own with the 8125.

Has anyone successfully got t-mobile MMS to work on their unlocked 8125? I spent all night yesterday checking all forums and figuring our my settings ... and another 3 1/2 hrs with tmobile tech today, but I still can't get it to work. I did my setup based on the tmobile website (also listed in earlier post). I'm out of ideas here (maybe 1 more ... could sbc pocket plus block MMS?) ... I need help.

Hello & Welcome to WA. Try these settings, I know they worked when the 8125 first came out but I am not sure if anything changed since then. Good luck

Are you getting an error message, if so what? Can you send/receive SMS or MMS? I am not quite sure what you mean data services, do you mean tethering with a computer?.

Sorry I seem to have more questions than answers.

Hi, can you use the T-Mobile web (the one for 5.99) on the 8125 or do you have to get a full internet package?
