jamilowry, you either need to buy an unlocked 8125 or get one unlocked as previously mentioned. The other alternative would be to buy the QTEK 9100 which is the unlocked unbranded version of the 8125 but it would cost you more. I had the QTEK and was quite happy with it.

Hope this helps
Thanks for the clairification and am glad you caught that before I gave away the wrong info. Something to consider, the HTC TyTN/Hermes is the upgrade of the 8125 that has not yet hit cingular, it sports twice the proccessor speed, a 2mp camera vs. 1.3mp, and supports UMTS. Also it's the hot seller right now so you may be able to find a decent deal that matches the 8125. Just a thought. Regarding unlocking of any of the XDA's, it's fairly simple and if you buy them without a contract chances are you'll be buying unlocked anyways.

Most pdaphones are fairly durable. They may not be as durable as a Nextel Motorola, but they will take some abuse. Also It should do what you want out of the box. But if the included apps are not working for you their are many 3rd party apps to fit your needs.

Agreed, although in my minimal experience with the SX66, 8125, and the QTEK 9100, the 8125 seemed to be the least rugged and the SX66 the most.

Ok, what about the treo 700w? Can you unlock those? I am having trouble because Cellular One does not carry a smartphone in my area, so I am trying to find one I would like and activate it with them.

You can use any unlocked GSM smartphone/pda, however, the 700w is GSM and won't work on Cellular One.

nKrypteD1, me thinks you have some sort of a mental block against accepting Cellular One as a GSM provider, and instead you make the 700w, which is a CDMA device into a GSM one. Have you considered talking to a counselor?..... .

Sorry I am just picking on you, your statement is correct the 700w will not work with Cellular One.

Hah you're right, I did mean to say CDMA device, and I know that for a fact cuz I looked up the 700w on phonescoop to make sure i was right, but I meant well, for clarification the 700w WILL NOT work on a GSM provider because as painfully as Charlyee keeps remind me, it is a CDMA phone. My bad yet again.

But the 750v is starting to show up in certain counties, and is GSM. And if it is anything like my 700wx I highly recommend it.

Charylee - I agree with the SX66 being more rugged then the 8125. Having both the PPC6600 & PPC6700 CDMA equivalents.

I've dropped my 8125 a few times, I did finally have to get a replacement but it had nothing to do with the dropping. It was purely, hmm how to put it, because the radio kept cutting out and it wasn't a gprs polling problem, but it had been happening since I first got it, this was more of a slight problem getting worse kinda deal.
