Seems like someone has finally made a start on developing a PPC version to the CellTrack app which was only available for smartphones running Windows Mobile from http://celltrack.spv-developers.com. I found this while googling CellTrack for a PPC version. There is a beta version out for the I-Mate Jam which will work with other PPCs running WM 2003. The app ran on my MDA II (ROM 1.72.170/Radio 1.17.00) but would only show the LAC and the CellID since it is a testing version while the bugs for transitioning the program from Windows Mobile for Smartphones to the PPC Editions are worked out. Check the bottom of the page: http://www.thelogster.34sp.com/celltracker/ I haven't found anything close to this yet so for the moment, it looks like this is the best we'll get.

Yep I used CellTrack a lot on my N-Gage before that phone conked out on me after nearly 2 years. At least now I can track my local cell towers again and check to see where they're located.

I am playing around with it too, but it seems to be a static display. The LAC and CID do not seem to change as you move around. You have to quit the program and rerun it to get updates. I am also playing with cell profiler. It has a toolbox function that shows LAC, CID, and signal strength in dBm. It also does not update automatically, but it does have an manual update button. http://www.cell-profiler.de/ I hope the Cell Track for PPC has some upgrades soon, it seems to have real possibilites by looking at the screen shots for the other devices. |

Yeah I think it is a 30 day trial off handango. You have to tap the question mark on the far right and then toolbox. I am hoping there are some updates to Cell Track, also would like to find a Series 60 phone for a reasonable price.

No problem! I am after whichever one I can get my grubby hands on, though it needs to do 850 GSM. I ultimately would like a Nokia 6682, but would be happy to find a 6620, 3620, 3600, or N-Gage QD. I believe all those are 850 capable.

Yep, the 3620 was the 65k color screen update to the 4k color screen that the 3600 had. The QD, 3600 and 3620 are GSM 850/1900. The 6682 and the 6620 are GSM 850/1800/1900. http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/com...4&id%5B%5D=453 Charlyee has the 6682, ask her a few direct questions since she's had it for a while. |

Yeah I read her review and some others. Also played with it at the Cingular store last week. Unfortunately I don't have $300 burning a hole in my Basically my only purpose for a Series 60 phone, unless I find $300 laying around and buy a 6682, is to use for CellTrack and as a backup phone when I am having problems with my JAM. I seem to be having some poor reception issues with it compared to a Nokia 3595 or 6200. Not sure if it's the metal case or not? |
