Just got my 6100 yesterday--baby drool fried my 6000 and had no service plan, so needed a new phone. (Verizon unable to repair, so I took it apart and used isopropyl _______ on the charge terminal and one other corrosion spot... anyone have further advice?) Very happy with it for the most part so far, but disappointed with the voice dialing (and the interactive CD is not too helpful with this). Hoping it's just me not using phone right... The system has no problem finding the name of the person I want to dial--very impressed with it being on target almost every time. However, I cannot find a way to differentiate between the different phone numbers for that contact (cell, home, office)--it wants to dial the default number each time. Seems to defeat the purpose of assigning multiple numbers to a specific contact, but maybe I'm missing something? Also, any idea how to change the voice prompts from male to female? Nothing against the guys, but would prefer to have a lady guide... |

I think to use voice dialing you probably have to save the different numbers as "John", "John Cell", "John Work", etc. This is how I do it on my vx6000.

Hi, I have the Lg VX-6100 also. With the voice activated dialing using contacts it will only call the default number set in the address book. So say for example you have "John" in your address book and "John" has a home, cell, and work number, and home is set as the default number. When you say "John" it will only call his home number. Set whatever number you call "John" on the most as default. I understand what you are saying it does kind of defeat the purpose of having multiple numbers under one contact. Maybe they will fix it in the next software update where you could say "John" then say cell. You could always use digit dial if you remember the phone number. After you activate the voice dialing prompt say digit dial then say the number when it asks you to. |

The 6100, on the other hand, appears to apply voice prompts only to the contact names, not their numbers. Not sure that makes sense? I'm just trying to figure out how to make the system recognize that my "Dad" contact that includes a cell and home number may not necessarily use the default number each time. | |

Yeah-I see what you're saying since I have played around with 6100s enough. As jfs mentioned, I also don't think there's a way to do this right now. Welcome to WA to both of you by the way Andy |

The only way you could use contacts in voice dialing and be able to call "dad cell" or "dad home" is to have it entered into your address book as 2 different entries under 2 different names, you would have to split them up. Otherwise it will always dial the default number.
