Organizing Music

Hey everybody,
I recently got an LG Chocolate (vx8550) and put a bunch of music on it. The music sounds great, but for some reason my phone has trouble organizing the music. When I search for music by artist, I find repeats of many of the artists. Not repeats of songs, just of artists. For example, I will see this:

Billy Idol (2)
Billy Joel (1)
Billy Joel (1)
Bob Seger (3)

There are two Billy Joel songs on my phone, but the phone won't recognize that the artists are the same. It's really annoying, and this happens whether I vcast music manager or just move the songs by micro sd card. Can anybody help me? Thank you!!!!
