LG ax565 - mp3's to ringtones

i have followed the instructions as you have all said but when i expand the file system i do not see anything that is dlod and i try to get the data from phone but it is all blank. what version of bitpim do i need and what do i do it will auto detect other CMDA phoen to com 5 but it wont let me do anything else

ok i got the file system open went into dlod and backed it up to the computer. then i deleted the lg_mysound.dat. then i opened the brew then media then lk then pressed on ms. i put my ringtones on to it. so then i upulged the phone and restarted it and went into the ringers and all the defalt ones are still in the phone and i do not see the ringers that i put in the phone. i pluged the phone back in went to the ms and the ringers are there. what am i donig wrong?

OKay can someone help me im really frustrated.

I installed the drivers and when I plug in the phone with device manager open I can see that it recoghnizes it under Modems and under Ports, but it only stays fro about 5 seconds and then it disappears.

Can someone explain ???

Ok - I figured it out!! (with the help of another forum) In case anyone else needs to know here is what you do:

You need to get a USB cable for the phone.

Download BitPim, plug in your phone [with USB set to Modem], and install the LG Phone drivers if your computer does not automatically find the drivers. Delete the ringtones out of the audios folder, and back them up to your computer.

Open up BitPim and click on view. Make sure there is a check next to "View Filesystem." If not, click on it to check it. Then, plug in the phone. It will not detect LG AX565, but will say "Other CDMA Phone on _________."

On the left hand side of BitPim, expand the folder Filesystem. Then click on dload and right click on "lg_mysound.dat" and back it up to your computer. Once you have backed the file up, delete it.

Now expand the folder brew and media and lk and finally click on ms. Then, open up the folder on your computer with your ringtone files, and drag them into the ms folder in BitPim. It will take about 30 seconds or so to add each file.

Once you have added all of your ringtones, unplug the phone from your computer, restart, and enjoy


*For the total NOOB - If bitpim is does not see your phone then got to phone MENU-SETTINGS-PC CONNECTIONS and make sure your phone is set to USB Modem.

Thx 4 the help, I got to it with ease, only one question remaining. Upon earlier d/l I was able to send these ring tones in messages, but since I went back and d/l'ed more ringtones I keep getting an error message "cannot senddrm protected content" What files or folders do i need to erase. Plz Help

After screwing with it 4 half a day, I came to the conclusion that it is just as easy to put it into the main audio files on the phone. Walla, every1 can have your ringtone hassle free. And with a 4gb chip who cares what you keep on your phone!!!

How did you get your filesystem to open?
