| Sorry about my incorrect title on the last posting. 1) My own experience with my VX10 indicates that the ringer volume stays the same (LOUD) in the closed position no matter what the volume setting is set at. Other posts have noted the same. Even if it is turned all the way down (ie. off) it still is very loud. If this is not a defect, I don't know what is. Why would the display show that you can adjust the volume down, but it has no effect. Has anybody figured out how to adjust the volume or has anyone's phone worked properly yet? 2) Are the external buttons programmable for anything? The bottom two seem to do nothing when the phone is closed. Is this another waste of button's. 3) Is there anyway to alter the top button from invoking "Get it Now" (which I never intend to use) when the phone is open? Thanks, Myck |

I spoke with both LG and Verizon. Both claim that the buttons are not programmable. I agree that the 'Get it Now' button is incredibly dumb, and that the up/down buttons being programmed to change the keytone volume is even dumber. The previous model of the same phone had the side buttons programmed for the ringer volume, which is what makes *sense*. I took the phone back to the store and picked up a T720 because I hated the VX10 UI all around. Some quirks about the VX10: - the buttons on the side do stupid things (see above) - the phone book and the call history take too many key presses to get into. - if you change a setting, you get dumped back to the main screen, so if you want to change another option in that same category or change the option back the way it was, you have to go back through the menu structure again. - the "mobile office" kit verizon sells you does NOT include any sort of sync software, as of this writing. The kit costs 80$. You're paying for a 30$ cable, and a 50$ redundant piece of software - verizon's dialup manager which has been included with windoze since win95. The only reason you (supposedly) need to buy the kit from verizon instead of just buying the cable is if you want to use their "high-speed" wireless network, which will cost you min. an extra 35$/month. Realizing that this is getting a bit off-topic, check out smithmicro.com for sync software for the LG phones, incl. the VX10. |
