Default VX1: Ringer volume problem AND External button use

1) My own experience with my VX10 indicates that the ringer volume stays the same (LOUD) in the closed position no matter what the volume setting is set at. Other posts have noted the same. Even if it is turned all the way down (ie. off) it still is very loud. If this is not a defect, I don't know what is. Why would the display show that you can adjust the volume down, but it has no effect.

Has anybody figured out how to adjust the volume or has anyone's phone worked properly yet?

2) Are the external buttons programmable for anything? The bottom two seem to do nothing when the phone is closed. Is this another waste of button's.

3) Is there anyway to alter the top button from invoking "Get it Now" (which I never intend to use) when the phone is open?

Thanks,
Myck

Well, I am not sure how much alike the VX1 and the VX10 are but I know that the ringer volume has no affect on the phone when the lid is closed. The only reason they have they have the ring volume on the phone is when it is open and you are using it, changing setting, about to make a call and the phone is so close to your ear that a normal volume ring would hurt. There is a menu option in my VX1 that allows you to set an escalating volume, a ring, the lamp blinks, a vibrate, or vib+ring. Under this same menu options is another choice for vib&ring volume, in there you can set it to high, low, medium, and even esculating. Maybe it is the same with yours, never know, and sorry about not using paragraphs, really not good at that....let me know if that helps, have a great one.
