I tried searching and didn't see anything like this, so here I go.

I noticed my VX6000 wasn't ringing nearly as loud as normal recently. I thought it was a mechanical problem and planned on taking it into a Verizon store this weekend. However, today I realized that the ringer speaker isn't messed up, my ringers are actually being played through the earpiece instead of going through the ringer speaker.

I know there is a way to get speakerphone enabled, and it seems like this is a simmilar issue. Does anyone know the steps required to get my ringers going through the external speaker again? I use my phone as my alarm clock, so this is VERY important to me. Thanks!

Have you tried taking out the battery to reboot your phone?
Do you know which software version you have?

I just tried it and it didn't fix it.

Hm? the reason i ask what version you have is because version 6 doesn't let you hack the phone to turn on the speakerphone, and even with version 5 the process for doing that has nothing to do with the ringtone problem, did you check your call settings and accsesory settings?

I've never heard of any such thing.

The sound settings are in menu>9>sound

I'd try getting your phone updated to ver.6 and see if that fixes the problem. It certainly seems odd, I don't even think you can make it do that with an option. Could just be a glitch in your software so updating might be your best bet.

is this a ringer u made with the voice note trick? if it is, try using a normal ringer and hten set the tricked ringer back...

No, it's Dream Sequence... I'm pretty sure it came shipped on the ringer. Actually... I've been using Ring3 for the past few weeks.

It's almost like it thinks I'm using a hands-free headset. Am I right to presume that the ringer would be routed to the earpeice while using a headset?

HM? do this, if you have a headset, plug it into your phone and call your phone, then unplug it and call it again.

Yeah, I think I'm gonna give that a shot. I just have to wait till I can get to my car, where the headset is. (I live in a dorm at school... and my car is at home. Should be able to get it this weekend though!)

its a standard plug... you can use anyone else's headset.

I tried the headset and had no luck. I took it into my Verizon store and they swapped the phone out for a refurb. They certainly didn't try very hard to fix the phone I had. I guess the solution to this glitch remains a mystery for now.

Thanks for the wish of luck. Seems to be a pretty solid phone thus far, although the battery doesn't seem to fit as flush as my last unit, oh well.

at one point you could hack the phone to make it work, but it's not woth the trouble, it's not a default feature.
