Default VX6000 Problem

I just came back to college from winter break. I've had my VX6000 for a couple of months now, and I love it. It's a great phone. However, when I arrived at Emory, I immediately started having problems. Whenever I tried to place a call, the phone would just display "Calling..." I would have a full signal. Then it would drop to one bar, and then no service, and then back to a full signal. Then it finally says "Call Failed." I would have to go through this scenario five or six times before the call would actually go through. And then during my conversations, the person I was talking to would often complain that they couldn't hear me for five or so seconds or that I sounded like I was underwater. No one else on Verizon was having the same problem. Also, earlier that day, I was farther north in Cumming, Ga., and my phone worked just fine.

So I called tech support, and they give me the usual do the *228 PRL update, cycle the power, etc. I hang up and can't get the PRL update. I call back and open a trouble ticket. This has been going on for over a day now. What do you guys think the problem is? Could I have gotten a bad handset? It has worked flawlessly up until now.

Default VX6000 Problem

did you have this problem prior to leaving your home area? could be that your home calling area has fringe coverage since you say that you started having these problems 'til you got home.
also some 6ks had a problem with the base of the antenna not making full contact and would have symptoms just like the ones you described like havung full bars of signal and then suddenly dropping. try getting your phone swapped and see if you noticed a difference, though the 6k is an excellent phone some do have some bugs in them.

No, I've never had this problem ever before. Up until I came back to metro Atlanta, it has always worked flawlessly. If I were to take it to a VZW store with a technician, how likely do you think that they would be to swap it out?

Default VX6000 Problem

well i done it five times, sometimes just because i get scratches on it, but i always tell them about my phone freezing up or dropping too many calls, which in your case it's true, so just asked them to give a different phone.

yeah, they tried that with my first 6k but no luck, they swapped it and problem solve, apparently my phone had S/W issues, but that's also another option.

Default VX6000 Problem

my 4400 will sometimes go from full signal to 1 bar, to full, to no signal while attemping to make a call, it gets annoying after awhile.
