I noticed this morning that my signal is very weak(1-2 bars) on my phone. Not sure why it's doing this. I have 2 6000's, 1 has full strength(normal) and 1 is down to 1-2 bars. First thought was maybe a tower in the area or something is being worked on(possible, as these things are usually done on the weekends), but why would 1 phone be working normally? I also thought it might be the phone having a problem. This could be it, but I did run out to make an errend and saw at the location I went to it was at full strength. Unfortunately it didn't stick and when I got back home it's back to 1-2 bars. It's not having any problems making calls and sending txt messages or any delay in any of it. Any ideas as to what problem this may be? |

Yep, they have the same prl and all. I had to run out for an errend again(where I went earlier) and still full strength there. I tried turning off the phone and removed the battery and put it back in. Didn't keep the signal once I left the area again. I watched the signal strength on the way home and there was even a spot where signal is lost all together(pretty bad considering it usually gets full-strength there). Back home again, back to 1-2 lines. Guess I'll call Verizon and go from there. |

Just got off the phone with customer service, 2 towers in the area are being worked on. Said the other phone must've just picked up a good signal from another tower, kinda screwy this one didn't(even after resetting and all). Should be done today tho, so we'll see what happens. Any ideas if this might have something to do with being on an older plan? My current plan is from Feb.(1000 anytime, 4000 mtm, unlimited n/w), I haven't switched over to a new plan that Verizon seems to be having people do with these 6000's. I really hate to switch over to a new plan since I'll loose my 4000 mtm but if I could be running into this problem down the road, might be something to consider. |

Just an update - The phone was bad. I called customer service again at 5:30p, any tower work being done should have been finished by then and I still had a weak or no signal. This lady told me that it's a hardware problem, just take it back to the store. Did that, they exchanged it for another no problem. Only had the phone for a week, kinda sucks it went out. I haven't heard any bad about this phone yet, hopefully that will be the last of it. Unfortunately the store didn't have a cable yet so I'll have to take the time to manually put in all my contacts and other junk. |

I have noticed that the signal strength bars on the VX6000 are very flakey. Mine can show 1 bar at one time and then a few seconds later show full bars and visa versa. I have learned to completely ignore the bars with this phone as it seems to work ok no matter how many bars it has. The one bad thing I have noticed though is that the phone will lose service altogether in marginal areas much sooner than my older Motorola v60i. Thing is the v60i had awful audio qualities. I have just come to the realization that Verizon just does not offer any real good phones and that the LG VX6000 is probably as good as I am going to get.

I thought the signal strength meter was fairly accurate. At least it's always seemed that way. It is possible it just looses it's signal every now and then and that's what you're seeing. As far as the V60i, a buddy of mine uses that phone. People say it keeps the signal better then most phones, but I have yet to see it for myself. Before with my T720, and now with the 6000, I always have as good as signal as he does, sometimes even a bar more. For the problem I had, it was definately a problem. Some places audio was breaking up or choppy(1 bar), definately a sign of a weak signal. This was in places where I normally get full strength. |
