Does anyone know for sure that Verizon will be coming out with a "Nextel-like" phone in the next few months? Phonescoop.com has pics of the phones but does not give a release date. Want to know if I should wait for one of these phones or should purchase the vx6000 now.

i used to work for the data comminications group for veriozn wireless few months back, i have heard speculations that verizon and nextel are in works of creating a deal by january.

If you want a phone with a camera, get the 6000 now. If you want PTT, wait a couple of weeks for the v60p.

Is the V60p the only PTT phone on the horizon? I would hope they would have a larger variety for this launch rather than upgrading a 3 year old phone.

I just talked to a verizon rep who claims PPT will be availbale in 5-6 months. Not sure it's worth waiting for......

Verizon employees are forced under a confidientiality agreement not to release dates and times and have been instructed to say "before the end of the year". However when I was on the phone with a top level technical support person about a week ago setting up pix messaging on my 6000 I mentioned that they must be excited about PTT and the v60p coming out this month. She asked how I knew that and I told her a little bird told me. She then said "Well you didn't hear it from me if anyone asks you about it". It is coming sooner than you think. Probably within the next week if I had to guess.

Just a question xmastatazx; I was under the impression that Verizon was in the process of suing Nextel over a prototype of the new Verizon PTT phone. Also, Verizon is building a competing network, so why would Verizon be forging a deal with Nextel?

the deal wtih nextel may have been intercarrier ptt but im not sure as ive heard nothing else about that..

the lawsuit relates to the term "ptt/push to talk" itself. nextel has attempted to trademark the phrase and verizon is fighting it. nextel has filed lawsuits against verizon and verizon against nextel. this is just an indication of how much ptt market there is and how much is at stake here.

Since you have both, which do you prefer the A530 or LG 6000? If it helps, pretend the 6000 doesn't have a camera. Is it still better?
