Arrow VX6000, Earpiece Volume

I have never taken the volume down from the highest setting on my VX6000, and it is still too quiet. I don't have bad hearing or anything, but I can't really use it unless it's fairly quiet. In most buildings it is good, but for some reason in my workplace it is REALLY quiet and if I step outside for 5 seconds it gets louder. I understand the signal may be weaker, but still cannot a weak, quiet signal be amplified once it is received?
Anyway, might there be a service menu option to adjust the preamp or something like that?

this is the first time i hear of someone saying the earpiece volume is too low on the 6k, normally it has to be set to a lower level because is too loud.
try setting your "auto volume", "tty" and "private settings" to OFF.

try holding it to your ear differently. there is a 'sweet spot' on the phone's ear piece that when u put it to your ear its super loud...

look at your ear piece and you should see a hole there, try lineing that up wiht your ear....

chaning the settings didn't really help.
as for the sweet spot, i did find that a while ago because i refused to believe that it could be that quiet.

anyone know why it gets louder when i step outside this building?

maybe a better signal?

my 7k had a clear protective slip over the earpiece that made the sound quality terrible, didn't find it for a day or two but taking it off made it louder and improved the sound. stupiud's idea on the "sweet spot" also made it louder, i have to turn mine down..

My 6K will blow my ears out if I tuen it up too much. I'd bring it back to the store if your sure your hitting the "sweet spot" ok.

Mine's the same way. I keep it set to Medium, sometimes Med-Hi when outdoors.
Used Hi once.... took a week for the bleeding to stop!

I'm sure that Verizon would be more than willing to exchange your phone if the speaker volume isn't what it should be...
