I have an Lg vx10, I recently purchased the snapsnyc data cable and software. I dont want to pay extra for the high speed 1xrtt data services, I would be perfectly happy just dragging along at 19k. when I try to use dial up networking on my computer to connect my phone says data not available, now I was told that I have to have the data services activated but I have used my old timeport phone before to go online without calling in to activate any type of data service can anyone help?? also im trying to use Gagin to connect to my Lg but its giving me the error that it doesnt "recognize the memory configuration", does anyone have any solutions??? can I use Gagin to manually enable or delete whatever files in the phone preventing me from using data?

It sounds like you may not have the port settings on your phone and PC in sync. First go to the device manager and find the port for your phone's USB/Serial connection. In Win2k it is under Ports, and lists as "USB Serial Port (COM4)". Your's should be on COM4 as well, unless you have something else using COM4. Go to the Properties of that device, then the Port Settings tab. Set it for 115200 bits per second, 8 data bits, None for Parity, 1 stop bits, and Hardware Flow Control. OK back to the Device Manager, and close the Device Manager. Then open your phone, press "Menu", Right Arrow twice to "Features", press 1 for "Data Setting", press 2 for "Data Baud". Scroll thru the settings there until 115,200 is showing and press "OK". It will say that the change is effective. Press "Back" twice to get out of the menus. Now plug in your USB cable to the PC and to the phone. (Make sure both are turned on). Then fire up gagin. Tell it to look at COM4 (or whatever com port you found the USB Serial Port on in the Device Manager ). It should find the phone in a few seconds and show a file tree of folders within a minute. I hope that helps. If that doesn't work, post what cable you are using and what drivers your using for the cable and phone. Later, Tom |
