The files play through the ringer speaker when I'm viewing them through the "pix message" screen and when they're in my "pix inbox," but when I save the song and set it up as my ringer, it then plays through the earpiece speaker. Is this a software//programming error or is there some way around this? It's extremely peculiar since I know they CAN be played through the ringer speaker, since they DO when you're in the pix message mode -- but when they're set to the actual ringer...they don't play through the ringer speaker. Very odd. Please help. Thanks aTm |

What method did you use to upload them to your handset?

I used winamp for mp3->wav, cut it down to ~20 secs with standard sound recorder, then used that brew dos program for wav->qcp//midi, then I used the vzwpix.com site to send the midi to my phone. It's just really annoying to hear it playing LOUD and AWESOME on the ringer speaker when I'm playing it from the "Pix inbox" menu, save it, and then have it play so quietly when its the actual ringer (since it's going through the earpiece). And that's a big deal for me because I NEED my ringer as LOUD as possible, and when it was playing through the ringer speaker, for the first time in my life I turned the volume down - that's how loud it was. You'd think there'd be some easy way around this since it definitely CAN be played through the ringer speaker...but doesn't when it's set to be your ringer. Any ideas? aTm |

No, I thought aTm was saying that he couldn't get midis or qcp files to play on the ringer speaker.

I apologize for the lack of clarity. I am not trying to get qcp files to play, I convert the qcp files to midi and then send them. My question//problem is: When I save the sound (the ringer) that is sent via vzwpix.com, and it is then entered into the "music" section in "my media," when I play it from there -- it plays through the earpiece. I CAN get it to play through the ringer speaker but ONLY when I'm actually viewing the pix message from the Pix Inbox in the Camera menu. But as I'm sure is the case with most anyone, when you send a sound file to your phone, you want it to be a ringer and so you want it to be played through the ringer speaker. Whenever one of the files I sent is played AS a ringer (NOT from the pix inbox or camera menu) it "rings" through the earpiece. Is that any clearer? HOW do I get sounds to play through the RINGER speaker when it's being used AS a ringer? I know they can be played through the ringer speaker when you're in the camera//pix inbox screen, but that doesn't help me because I want these to be my ringers and I want them to be played through the ringer speaker when I have them set as a ringer. Ugh...I think I'm confusing myself now...sorry...any ideas would be appreciated... aTm |

I wonder if it has to do with the fact that you are changing qcp files to midis, although I don't see why that would be. I have midi rings from my VX4400 that I put on my computer using Bitpim. I sent them to the phone to my vzwpix.com email and it came through as a pix message. When I opened it I hit the right soft key for options and went down to "save sound". Then when you are in your phonebook just edit the ringtone and it should be at the bottom of the list of rings to choose from. That's it. All of the rings I have sent so far play through the ringer speaker when I get a call from the number I assigned them to. Hope that helps.

are you trying to say that when someone calls you, the ring comes from the earpiece inside and not the ringer speaker that is usually located outside?... Have you tried turning up the volume for your ringer? How do the other built in ring tones sound?
