I've just got my VX6000. It works fine with PitPim, except the Image does not transfer correctly to the phone (The image should be 120x146) The map editor on GAGIN does not work with this model (That can be fix very easily) The great thing is the phone rings and Vib at the same time. The camera works great. You can take a picture and send it to someone by pressing a key. however, this service is not available on my area yet. |

What is the official release date? The regional/district manager for my area told me it would be available in July. It would be cool if it comes out earlier, but I wouldn't think they would officially release the phone until MMS is available.

I believe this is a test phone. I got it from one of the regional sales person. I was able to upload my phone book from my VX4400 to VX6000 using BitPim. You can download bmp and gif file to the phone as well. I was able to download matirx.gif file to the phone using GAGIN. It is tricky but I did it. The ringer has a better sound quality compare to VX4400. The official release date is end July. Unfortunately, I can't find any additional battery or car charger,.. You can send animation, pics, and sound with this phone. However, I am getting network not available while I am attempting. Normal SMS is no problems. Verizon support was not able to help me since there is no info available for this model. |

you have to tell us more about this phone. I need to hear more details. How is the OLED on the outside? Is there just one color? Explain as much as you can about the camera. What are those front of the phone? what are those buttons on the side of the phone? have you made any calls with your phone? sound quality? how many pictures can you take? I am dying to get this phone and would love to know more about it. If you could supply any more information, I would really appreciate it. It seems that no one really knows about this phone unless you hvae one. So thanks

Sorry, I have not been able to link some pictures. I am using my small windows CE device and I don't have a whole lot choices. Those lines below the LCD on the front are just the front LCD design. The sound quality is a little better than VX4400. The ringer sound is much much better. The menu style is the same as the VX4400, except the menu one is for the "Camera". The key 1 has been programmed for the voice mail as well as the envelope key. You can customize this key (*86TTT...) and works great. The key between the send and End is for a quick picture taking. The camera menu has: 1- Self timer 2- Resolution (160x120, 320x240, 640x480) 3- Brightness 4- White Balance 5- File quality 6- Shutter Sound 7- Color Effects 8- Fun frames 9- Multishot So far I took about 20 pictures. I am not sure how many pictures it will hold? I am sure it depends on the resolution type. The date and time scrolls on out side LCD. It has a nice scrolling flashing light as well. It has a power saver mode and you can set it to 2 minutes, 10 min, 30 minutes or always on. The Sub LCD timer can be set to max 10 minutes and you have to press the side key to get anything on the screen. (I think that will prevent from draining the battery) You can change the fonts color. The pre loaded pictures and sounds are much better that VX4400. The LCD resolution is much better than VX4400. You can download animation onto this phone. (Not with the current version of GAGIN or BitPim. I was able to load the"Matrix"). I was able to upload my phone book from the VX4400 to the VX6000 about less than a minute using BitPim. You can take a quick picture and email it from the same screen. (This option is not available and I heard Verizon is going to charge 2- 3 dolors for this service) The rest of the options on the phone are the same as the VX4400. Over all, it is a great phone for me so far. |

Damn, and I thought I was excited for this phone. Everyone just relax... Some things about the phone: (yes, I've seen it, but I don't have it) bobby19711: Release date is planned for July, but it may be delayed by PTT. That is Verizon's number one priority right now, and they'll sacrifice anything to launch it ASAP. They already have software for Nextel phones in their Cellbrites (the machine that transfers phone books). Although the one doesn't directly affect the other, they'll need to get their MMS platform up before releasing the 6000, and right now they want to make sure 1x will be able to run PTT smoothly, at least preliminarily. Njsvrzncdma: The plan is to try to keep it under $300, sale price. Full retail will obviously be more than any other phone because it has two things no previous Verizon phone had: a camera and a 262K TFT display. A nice display like that will really jack up the price. If you just got your 4400 last month, start saving for the 6000. It will be steep at full retail, no doubt. PjayzcivicHd84: Most likely, yes, the phone will still be for sale in September. It seems that a good phone from Verizon will run for about a year and a half before they drop it. The 9500 was an exception with a painful six months because of it's obtrusive size and poor battery life. If that was still being made, it would have a camera on it by now. Too bad the size, with the attachment, would be about the size of the Zach Morris Phone. chanmanx2k: -The OLED is really tight. You can change a few of the options to make it scroll and stuff, and it'll come on when you push a side button. You can't change the color, it's always cyan, but there are colored dots on top (orange, cyan, and green) which flash and stuff when you receive an SMS, or a call, etc. -The camera is really sharp. With the 260K color TFT screen, you'll see pictures with clarity that you've never seen on a Verizon phone (since all previous phones had a max of 65K colors, and the 9500 was the only one with a TFT display.) I don't remember how many pics it can hold (I want to say 30, 40, or 60, I know, a big range) I do know that it doesn't matter the resolution, it will hold the same number (odd). That metallic circle next to the lens is for self-portraits. Center yourself in the mirror, and presto! You get the idea Other New Stuff: -It has 199 speed dialing entries, 100 more than the 4400 -It is digital only and has a stub antenna. The phone will not work in analog-only areas, but will be thinner because of this, and ideally, have a better battery life (it is thinner than the 4400. it is about the thickness of the VX10) -You can ADD words to the T9 dictionary! It describes how in the manual, but this is a great feature. Now, only once do you only have to use the "tap" method to drop the f-bomb! -Bad news: Like our buddy the a310, this phone does not have a standard ringtone. They are all little songies! Most of them are the same as the ones in the 4400, with a few extras (holiday ringers, and some more). So, if you're looking for your phone to simply "ring" then you'll have to Get it Now! (sm) -More bad news: the base port is not the same size as all previous VX series phones. This means that your data kit and car charger will not work. Sorry, Charlie. But, overall, this phone kicks all kinds of ___. Feel free to ask me any other questions. |

The caller ID LCD works great in the low light area. The back ground is kind of black and the light and numbers glow color( Blue). I forgot to say that, the VX6000 rings and Vibrate at the same time. |

Hey I noticed on page 10 on the user guide that there is an icon for circuit data mode, which means it will support PTT feature.

1. No flash. It would kill the battery. There have been rumors about a flash attachment, but there are settings for a backlight vision correction. 2. This phone will not support PTT: Push to Talk (the walkie talkie thingy) |

Hey Alex... DUDE!!!! Thanks for the very informative write up on the phone. You know you have all of us drooling for it now more than ever. The only thing i'm a little disappointed with is the fact that the external screen turns off (well... as you say, you can set it to max 10 min). Although, I do sorta like the fact that you can make the flashing/scrolling LEDs always on (I just wonder how that eats the batt down, i'm sure not by much). If I may ask a question... I understand from KriegsCCX's post that the scrolling LEDs can somehow indicate that you have a new VM, SMS, etc. The question is, do they also flash a certain way to show that you missed a call? And if so, if you have the LEDs set to stay on for lets say 2 min, will the LEDs continue to flash past the 2 minute point (because of the missed call notification)? Hopefully the answer is yes. That is a very important feature to me. When the phone is charging (or if I just don't have it on my person), I like to just glance at it and know I missed a call, have VM, etc. One of the main reasons I returned the Samsung a530 was because the outside color LCD screen turns jet black and in order to know that you missed a call was to hold down the vol button for 2 sec. This was aggravating to me because unlike the LG, the Samsung doesn't take you right to the "Missed Calls" log when you opened up the flip (stupid). So unless the caller left you a VM, you would never know they were trying to reach you (unless you constantly check your "Missed Calls" log). Anyway back to the VX6000, just a couple more questions.... One big question I have is how much memory does it have for GIN? 1.6 MB??? I'm assuming/hoping a lot more because of the pictures..... but I don't know how/if it allocates different memory for storing cam pictures vs. GIN... can you shed some light? Also, how's the TFT LCD screen in direct sunlight compared to the STN on the 4400? How about the external OEL in direct sun? Thanks again Alex sorry for all of the questions. I'm SO jealous of you right now!!! and KriegsCCX... I'm even jealous of you for at least PLAYING WITH THE DAMN PHONE!!!! |

There is a setting for the balls to flash when you miss a call (can we say that on Wireless Advisor?) At any rate, I'm not sure how long they flash after the call is initially missed. A TFT display will perform better than an STN in most areas. It will still be hard to see in direct sunlight (as are all LCDs) but it will be a little better, especially when it's cold in the winter. Since it uses an active display, the transition will be quicker. I forget the exact flash mem for GIN, but I know it is a lot. More than the 4400, and more than enough. Pricing is still undecided. However, if the prophecy is true, and Neo is the one, we should see some pricing by July. My promise, I cannot keep. July 1 is the rumor. |

Regarding the missed calls and flash: One you have a missed call, the flashing balls comes on based on your setting, after about 10 seconds the missed calls letters start scrolling and last 50 seconds. The phone will wake up once you press the side and you see the scrolling missed call again. You can continuously see the missed call by pressing the side keys until you open the flip. Once you open the flip you get the option view (default) or ignore. You can program the upper key for the quick accessing your missed calls. Regarding memory space: The memory is the same as VX4400. 1.61 MB and 426k RAM. Regarding PTT The PTT (Push to Talk), which creates a direct connection between cell phones--eliminating the need to dial a number and wait for a network connection. It is not supported by VX6000. I believe Verizon will offer this service toward end of this year or the following year. |
