Default Auto disconnect??

My 4400 has this nifty feature, auto-connect. It is very nice when using my handsfree module in the car. So I'm roaring down the interstate, thinking how safe I am, when I decide to use voice dialing to reach a friend. The call goes through but he's unavailable. I end up in his voicemail, a place I do not care to be. Then I discover, roaring down the highway at 75 mph, there is no way of ending the call?!?!?!? I finally, after a few well placed expletive deleteds [which btw, ended up being recorded on his voicemail], had to disconnect the 4400 from the cradle, open the clam shell, and press end. I began to curse the handsfree unit.

Later in the day, curiosity got the best of me. I wondered if it was the handsfree unit and would the same thing happen with, say, the earpiece? So, in goes the earpiece, voice dialing makes the call and, you betcha, it will not disconnect unless I open the clam shell and press end.

So I am definitely beginning to think, "how UNsafe am I", hurtling through space at 70+ mph, having to reach over, open the clam shell to press 'end' to terminate a call?

There is a better way! does anybody know of one??

Default Auto disconnect??

I no longer have the phone, but this was a MAJOR flaw in my opinion. Unless you actually connect to the person you are trying to call, there is no way to hang up without opening the phone and pressing end. The only way to "auto-disconnect" that I was aware of was to have the person you are speaking with hang up first, thus causing your phone to hang up too. Obviously if you reach a VM this can't happen. It is a hardware issue...on/off buttons on hansfree headphones won't work either.

I still am unaware of any solution to this problem, though perhaps someone that still has the phone knows a way around it?
