Default RINGTONES: finding them is easy...

**assuming you already know how to use GAGIN to upload ringtones

1) first of all the easiest thing to do is search for midi sites, they are everywhere and contain mostly things like themes and music... a couple of cool sites for movie and TV themes that i found are http://www.gypsyshani.com/free/tv1.html and http://www.moviethemes.org/movie.html

2) check out yahoo groups, there are a couple ones out there that are all right now and are growing in content...
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/LG_VX4400
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/vx4400images
and http://groups.yahoo.com/group/t720tonesandimages/ this one has the most ringtones of the bunch i think (dont use this one for wallpapers unless you plan to resize and convert them)

3) go to sites like http://www.myphonefiles.com/ and join up then do one of two things... a) send the files to your email and then download them from there or b) (assuming you use winamp by default) click to listen to the ringtone, it should then pop into your winamp player and play. right click on the midi and go to "file info" then click the "save" button and save it to your hard drive, this will work with any site that is set up that way... i like that method better because i think that site puts a 2mb limit on you if you dont pay (?) and that is a way to sneak by that.

then of course i need not mention that you should search forums like this one or howardforums, you may find posts that point you in the right direction

hope find some good ones!

The problem you will quickly find is that all these midi files are the entire song and will fill up your phone's memory very fast. Not to mention that you will only be listening to 30 seconds of it at most before the other person hangs up thinking you aren't there or the call gets forwarded to voice mail. Also I've found that a lot of midi files out there are in some format called riff midi (not just straight midi.) I dunno about other phones but the 4400 can't play them. So it's up to those of us who have midi editors and know how to use them to create midi snippets suitable for ringers. I've uploaded all the midi files I've edited so far to the LG VX4400 group on yahoo. I use Voyetra's Digital Orchestrator Plus to edit midi files. It's an old program but midi is an old standard and it works great. It even converts riff midi files to straight midi.

just helping people to find some rings for their phone... i have 21 rings (some full songs) and about 18 wallpapers loaded (bmp) into my phone and im at 65% full... if you need more than that loaded at once you are a moron. every single midi i have downloaded has worked on my phone. (ive uploaded around 50 or so.. most being more than 15k and from midi sites) so i think you worry too much about making your 'snippets'

Why is everyone so damn sensitive on this forum? You're worse than my wife

I'm not criticizing your post in any way, I think it's great information that people need to know. Heck, just go to http://google.com and do a search on "midi" and you will get thousands of hits (millions actually.)

I'm just trying to add a little more useful info to an already informative post.

I'm not worried about anything. This is all fun and games, man.

how do they sound or your phone. the files i upload are usually not as loud as the free one i got from Modtones, but none of them have perfectly clear quality, all are a bit distorted (sp). but are yours prefectly clear?

Mine are loud enough but still a little distorted. I don't think there is anything we can do about it right now. I hope it's a software problem with the phone and not just a POS speaker/amplifier.

depending on the midi they are either loud or soft, most of mine are a good volume. the distortion is a firmware problem with the phone i think... but most of the midis i upload arent bad if you keep it on medium ring volume... i hope they fix that problem soon though

ouch be gentle there, lol for those of us that don't know much about midis and gagin, is there a way you can send your already loaded and edited ring tones to another phone so we can save them as ringtones?

I would love to do this but your method does not work. When click to listen to one of their midi files I get a browser window open and it plays it using quicktime (I have quicktime but it is not set to play midi files - I have music match as my default for them). I also have winamp but it does not come up in my winamp even if I set winamp up as my default midi player. What am I doing wrong.

Duh, I just figured it out. You don't need winamp or any player. Just right-click and select save target as....and then select a folder on my computer. Boy that was easy. I have downloaded some great mdi songs and have shortened them to the less then 30kb file length. I can't wait till I get my phone tomorrow to see if I can now send them to the LG and set them as ringtones and see how they sound.

OK, I figured out how to make ringers for my VX6000 from MIDs... but, I'm guessing there is no way to get them from MP3 to Polyphonic... is this right? or is there something I am missing??

No, I heard it is almost impossible to convert from MP3 to midi.
