Default Problem Installing Ringers Otherwise THANKS!!

I'm in there!!!
I just wanted to say THANKS!!!!!...to All that have helped especially HKPhooey Your tutorial was Very clear and worked perfect.
I was Originally on windows ME and I can confirm none of this stuff will work on it.
I reformated last night and install 2000pro on here and now eveyrthing is working great.
I got the $20 futurefial cable for the Vx10 at radio shack and it works fine. (you dont need to buy any software)

I changed my wallpaper (filenames must be lowercase) and Erased The STUPID "verizon Wireless" Banner from the screen (thanks dedtees for the drag and drop tip, I needed to do that)

Only One question?
I already edited my brewRingerIndex.map now,
what directory do I upload my mid files to?
I've tried to Balpatch to "user" but it does not work. Do i have to create "user"?
I read Somewhere I have to Buy a ringtone to setup this directory, Is this true???

Thanks So Much everyone for all your help!!!!

I plan on uploading many backgrounds to this group in appreciation

Yes you have to buy at least one ringtone from Modtones or ringster to set up your ringtone directory....oh so I've heard.

I basically already had that directory on my phone since I bought 7 ringtones (before I knew about GAGIN)

If you balpatched to "user" and you downloaded 1 ringtone, you should see a directory named sounds/ringers...

you can place your midi files there.

I've also played with some files and made some ringers that does not sound distorted on the 4400.... anyone interested? I will upload them as soon as I get home.

My favorite is the Buffy theme mmmm....Buffy......

You have to download at least one ringer.. for some reason, I had to download 2 before my directory showed up.

You have to upload your ringers to the "user" directory (w/o quotes). If there isnt a user directory, try to download a ringer through GIN first, then attempt the user dir. If that doesnt work, come back and maybe someone would know

Win2K is soooooooooo much better than win me.. I think you already found that out

I didn't have to download any ringers.. I just created the directories myself. Check out my reply in the other thread you asked this same question.
