Default KX2 resources?

I'm looking for the service menu to edit wap settings and lots more stuff, but I can't find anything online. Anyone know a good place to look?

I know on some previous Kyoceras that you had to hit 111111 (6 1s) as if you were dialing a number, then an extra menu option would appear. Just a thought.

Just purchased my KX2 yesterday. While I haven't yet been able to get FreeWAP to work, I did find out how to access the service/programming menu. I'd suggest you checkout the guide posted: 'http://www.cartron.com/kyo_kx2.pdf' under the 'Helpful Hints' section. It explains how to gain access to the menu and explore around.

From my playing though, it would appear as if Verizon has invaded/taken over the phone and doesn't like anyone to change anything :-) While most Service Menus mention a 'WAP Gateway' a 'DNS IP' address is mentioned in the Service Menus. I'm wondering if it means the same thing or not. In any case, I haven't been able to change the default homepage either--so even if I did get it to work, I don't think I'd be able to get out.

In any case, check-out the link above for a guide on how to do stuff and let us know if you have any luck :-)

Programming codes like that are generally always a series of 0 for whatever length. So, in the case of the KX2, throw in six zeros for the service/programming code :-)

No. Cell phones don't understand TCP/IP. They understand AMPS, TDMA, CDMA, GSM, iDEN, etc.

You CAN re-route your phone's WAP traffic through a proxy server other than the one(s) your provider maintains.

any idea about that ip address for the wap server? ive tried as well to change things through kwpst. there is a "web link A main" that you can enter an ip address into as well as port under neath it but i cant get my homepage to come up it keeps telling me ive got it misconfigured or something. should i still be using the same dns server? also any idea what "server A primary URL" is? you got me. im gonna try a few diffrent websites just to check.

I don't think I'm familiar with your phone and its settings. Any socket (IP address and port number pair) you enter into your phone probably needs to be a wap server. Then, you could set your URL to some wap website like www.wa00.com or wap.google.com. I run my own server so I don't know of any you can use.

running your own wap server is the same as running a web sever with different protocols, correct? i think the trick with my phone is finding which setting i need to change. realgt over on howardforums posted something saying that since you have a ppp handshake with your courier that you would get charged minutes no matter what. but im not sure of that. seems to me that if your only using them as a dns server and connecting via your phone line to proxy server that your kinda going around your carrier. who is your carrier wgray8231 ?

When I said "wap server" before I meant gateway. I run kannel. That's how I bypass my provider's gateway to get MOU wap access. They count it as just a call. I don't know what your phone line has to do with anything.

when i say phone line i mean that you make the call from your wireless phone. so your going to get charged minutes. what do you mean "MOU wap access"? at any rate, so you just direct you phone to your "wap gateway" and do you have a static IP for the gateway?

MOU = minutes of usage

Yes, I have a static IP address for my gateway.

To use wap on my phone, I don't place a call. The phone does "call" #777 for a data connection behind the scenes just the same as using it as a modem.
