Default Help! phone choices

I have just switched to verizon. I had a nokia 5160 from a previous carrier for years. It wasn't the best, but it was rugged and tough. I farm for living and it went through hell. It's been dropped, ran over and even summersed in water a few times. Now there are a whole new set of phones and options out there. I took home a LG 4500 flip phone. It sounds good, reception is good, it is a good phone I'm not knocking it. But when I was in the verizon store the salesperson was pushing towards the LG 4500. I was really looking at the Kyocera KX414, because it wasn't a flip phone. It looked more durable.

My question for you phone pro's is: I'm hard on a phone and I know they aren't made out of tungsten, but which phone has good reception and voice clairity and is reliable. I'm not looking to play games or internet service just a good built and tough phone. So any info is really appreciated. I'm not phone smart, that is why I'm asking.

Sorry it is so lengthy

Thanks for your imput

The Nokia 3389i has excellent RF (signal) menu user interface is easy to use, contstruction is very solid, sounds like your kind of phone. Also the Kyocera KX 414 could work for you.

what ever you decide on, get the insurance.. its worth it in a case like yours where, H2O and physical damage is probable.

my recommendations:

lgvx4400 (i have one and i beat the hell out of it... wet, dropped, wet, kicked, wet again and it finally died recently)

lgvx4500 or vx6000

kyocera kx414 is tough too. nice little phone with good sound.

nokia 3589

In my 24 hours with the 3389i, I found it's RF not as good as my V60i or A310. I had purchased it because I had heard it's RF was one of the best....certainly was not in my case. But others seem to tout it's RF quality, I just didn't see it.

I also found the phone pretty shotty as far construction goes, or at least, when compared to other Nokia products.

Funny you mentioned that, i can never get that across to people how some phones may work great for some i.e. 4400 and for some it could be the worse phone they ever used.

Default Help! phone choices

Just want to say thanks guys for all the imput. When I signed up with verizon I took home the LG VX4400. It seems to be a good phone so far, but I think I'm going to trade it in for kyocera 414. I had a nokia 5165 with at&t for years. It was a durable phone, but it would shut it self off all the time and the earpiece was not very loud. But it took some heavy punishment.

Thanks again for all your replies and I will keep you posted on what I decide to get.
