Finally the Slider is here, the price of the phone is: $99.99 2 year contract which inludes accesory package $149.99 1 year contract which also includes accessory package Got mine for $49.99 plus tax of the original price which came to $70.62 thru a 2 year contract(not mine, mom's) The reason for the lower price was because i chose to get the phone without the accessory package which they try to sneak in there as a package deal, but i told the rep that the price of the phone was different on their newsletter, $49.99 after a $50 rebate, which i got instantly, so if you want to save a few bucks buy the phone without the accessory package. First look: So far the phone looks better than the dark gray Virgin Mobile version in my humble opinion, display is nice it's only about 62k so don't expected it to look like the 6k, lights on the keypad are nice and bright, the keypads are small so it takes some getting used to but not as bad as i thought they were going to be, ringtones actually sound pretty good compared to the LG's are just as loud, menu user interface is fairly easy to used. Overall i'm happy with it, once i go through all it's features i well get back with a more in depth review. Now, how do we set up "Free Wap" on this thing. BTW, i just now realized we're actually trying to keep the master thread previously mentioned, so if needed please be kind enough to move my post there.

What little I played with it yesterday, I liked the "swoosh" sound it made when I opened it. I like things like that, I just can't help it. And as far as WAP, if it is WAP 2.0, the only way I know is setting up your on portal as discussed in the LG forum.

It looks like one of the mods changed the name of my thread. Actually I like the name better than I originally had it.

Well i was kind of skeptical about the Sly's RF not performing as well as my Audi 9500 in the 3rd lower level of the parking structure at work because my signal bars went down to zero, and even though i know RF is not well measured by the phone's signal bars alone, and the "Sly" is all digital, it did past my preliminary test, though it showed no bars i was still in 1x land and was able to make crystal clear calls with no problems. Yes!

Yeah, like Aje said, i had an itch for a different phone, and after all the hype and all the waiting, i said why not, just to hold me off 'til the Superphone comes along, I'm also holding off on my Sprint phone, want to get the Sanyo VM4500, but i want to see what else it's on the horizon for them. Where's Ceno, anyway, i thought maybe he would have some type of review for us, maybe he flake on the "Sly" after all. LoL, Yeah Delta, who knows you might run into the human resources lady that interview you, don't want to see you on the 11 o'clock news, well, only if you win the Lotto.

Well i found the first glitch on the Sly, voice dialing doesn't recognized when you try to dial by calling out digits, if you train your phone with a name it works fine, but then when it gives you the option to speak each digit one by one, it dials a different number, i would say "2" and it would dial "8" or sometimes "#" or it would just exit "voice dialing", well took it back to Verizon and was told that if it becomes more common, then a software should be out soon (heard that before), well they swapped it for another, we'll see how it goes with that one.

Tony, can you check out the field test screen. Compare it against the 6000 or anything else. I never found the LG's to work very well, anything over -97 and they'll drop in my area, while Kyoceras/Nokias/Motos do fine. My stepdad will probably get the slider soon, thanks.

Will do Airb, as soon as i get the code to go into the phones' prog. menu, first Kyocera for me so i'm not familiar with their codes. Well i tested my "voice dialing" feature on this one and it passed, it's not dialing "8" when i say "2" and it seems to recognized all the other digits. Also for some reason the PRL is not showing up on this one either.

Odd about the PRL not showing up. You probably read where someone else noticed that too. Never heard of that with any other phone, but I wouldn't think it is anything to loose sleep over.

Kyocera's IMO show low signal strength, but do fine with 0 bars. In my friends room down the hall, her 9500 struggles, drops some calls, but it works. Moto 120c/LG 4400/3100 are totally dead in there. My nokia works well in there, and the kyocera 2135 is about on par with the 9500. I bet the slider's RF is probably pretty good. | |

getting the old dependable 2135 out! 111111 hit option then go down the list to debug field debug code is 000000 on Verizon 040768 or something on Sprint then go down to debug screen and choose basic shows which sector/tower your hitting up, PN084 for me now with a RX of -95 (nokia is at -90) With that -95 or so rating, I am showing 1/4 bars, sometimes 0. Compare against your 6000! |
