Default Kyocera Slider Review (Master Thread)

I will start a thread for everyone's personal review for the Kyocera Slider by Verizon Wireless, so we don't have 10 different threads about the same thing.

I would appreciate it if everyone would post their pro's/con's of the phone in this thread.

I assume other people would appreciate this too.

Thanks.

Yes, you are probably right.

But it doesn't hurt to try.

You could at least have compiled some of them so we don't have to start over again.

Well, after a few hours with the phone, I like it. Only complaints so far is that it does not show the current PRL and when you add an event to the calendar you can not set alarms past 30 mins from the event. Other then that, so far so good.

Larry, you're a gentleman, and a scholar, that's the kind of replies us mere and regular members that IMHO keep these forums alive like from our Moderators, some should learn from you.

Cut the ambiguity, just direct it at me. I was trying to figure out a way to merge them, that's why I said that, as I figured it would take all day to merge them ! I PM'ed Larry and he said it wasn't possible. I am glad he came in here to tell you that. I am sorry I locked those threads, but Gamer did have a point and you know the forum was becoming a mess. Now onto the slider....

No double meanings, and no hard feelings Airb, just the way you replied made it sound like it's my fault that there's about a thousand Slider threads in here...lol
I agree, it's getting too cluttered in here with all these Slider threads.

I see some people at HoFo seem to think the Slider gets some poor RF.

No problems with mine so far, i even went underneath the parking lot structure down to the 3rd floor all the way to the back with concrete walls and all and i was able to call out with the phone showing no signal bars(i know it's not measure by that) but still showing 1x and the call was crystal clear, clearer than my Audi 9500 (and you know the 9500 is known for excellent RF), so like any phone i think it depends how well the network covers you in your area, but you already know that. Now i've only had (like my friend would say) mines for 2 days so i'm still testing it.

I seen some too, like 2 persons, i was one of them, i posted how i got no service in areas where i normally would with my 6k, funny thing is today when i drove by there this morning my phone worked fine, but then again the one i'm using today is a replacement, overall i seen more satisfied users at Hofo than un-satisfied, don't get me wrong the Slider is no "superphone" by any means, it's just a sleek looking fun phone that has some nice features and gets lots of looks and compliments.

VZW edited it's news letter. It now says the Slider is 49.99 after 50.00 rebate valid between 3/15 and 5/9/04 w/2year contract.

Phone RF is definitely a squirly thing to measure.

Nope, not bad at all. I am glad it's working for you! You must live near a tower . I never get below -80 hardly anywhere in DE.

Usually in the low 90s at home with a 4500, but I use an external window antenna...with that I can stay in the mid to high 80s with no dropped calls.

Does anybody else think the back and speakerphone keys are a little to difficult to press? I played with the demo in our local store and I hated the way those buttons felt! The regular keypad wasn't too bad, but those 2 buttons....I think it's just the location, but still.

I am really thinking about geting a slider next week, I have two questions.

1. If I got a data cable could I use downsampled mono mp3 or wav files as ringers? Or does the slider only support midi ringers.

2.Is the kyocera data cable and desktop software standard, something that I could get off of ebay, or do I have to get the cable and software for the outragous price on verizon's site?

I agree, the back and speakerphone buttons are a pain to get to, otherwise the rest aren't too bad, side keys would have been nice.
