Kyocera SE47 "Slider" Master Review/Discussion Thread

I got my Slider yesterday + the Rebate. At my store you had to buy the phone between last Tuesdsay and this Sunday in order to get the Rebate. I guess every store is different. Anyway I love the phone and I'm totally liking the Cats and Dogs screen saver. That's so cool! As for the voice dialing, I think you have to be patient with the phone. At first it was totally screwing up but then today when I did it again, it only messed up on a couple of numbers. I think it had problems with the number 3 and 5. I'm sure with more and more practice it will be100% accurate.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img][img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-cool.gif[/img]

I used the trained phone feature and after doing that, the voice dialing seems to be working well now.

Lol, please send me that 4400! I want a good paperweight in my dorm [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]. I do wonder if the phone would performed better for me with the new SW, as I stopped using it in October (since I couldn't make a call out at all in my living room).

I played around with the slider today at the store. I liked it a lot, though the screen looked like a 4k screen ala T730 compared to a 65k screen. However, the RF was not encouraging. It on average had 10 less DB's than my nokia. My nokia hung in around -59 or so, and the slider went up into the -70's (I have the figures on Hofo, I forgot them now!). The Kyocera 414 was almost as good as the nokia. Oh well, I won't be getting a new Verizon phone anytime soon anyway [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]

I agree the screen on the Slider is no LG6000, i put that somewhere either here or on Hofo, and the RF is not the best around, i think this is not the phone you want to have in fringe reception areas, lucky for me LA is well covered.

Their accessories are reasonable but I didn't get the pack. I just need the charger. I'll get the USB cable and software from Kyocera's store later because I totally want to download ringtones and maybe tetris. I'm mad, I thought that was a standard game with this phone. I think the Virgin Mobile one has it. Oh well.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

Does anybody know if the slider uses the same data cable as the other Kyocera phones?

I'm not 100 % sure but i think they're different, as well as car chargers.

Does the Slider have the connector on the back for an external antenna adapter? I would imagine it does.

It does, right next to the antenna there's a rubber cap covering it.

The slider still working out? This one guy on Hofo keeps complaining about dropped calls his girlfriend has, but she loved the phone cause it's cute. I'd be annoyed by having to put up with her dropped calls, but hey it's cute! Lol

Any luck with car chargers? It's the same port as the 6000, but i can't get it to charge. i can get the 6000 to charge with the home charger from the slider though.

Try the Virgin Mobile version from Target, i got an original Kyocera one for $14.

There is a US Cellular kiosk in the walmart, but guess what? US Cell is still tdma here. So they don't have the slider, and therefore no accessories. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif[/img] I really hate this cell phone market sometimes.

How about a Best Buy store? Dont they sell they VM version of the slider? You could try and give them a call and see if they have the car charger.

Actually i meant in the Electronics dept, they usually have cellular accessories there and also their prepaid phone i.e. Virgin Mobile, i guess they don't cover all markets, sorry i couldn't help.
