A quick overview: I spent over an hour playing with a live model and here is a quick overall view on the phone and some features. Size/Construction: What can I say, the size is great... a little on the thick side but closed is smaller in height than most flips. The phone was a little heavier than anticipated but is acceptable for its small size. It does have a pull up antenna that is seated well (I dont think we'll see many problems with this antenna's unlike the startac and V series phones). Build of the phone seems solid, its like a rock when closed, no flimsy flip phone feel, when opened I could see someone separating the two halves completely but I'm sure it wont be that common. The biggest problem I found with the construction would be the opening of the phone.... I slid this phone open and closed about 20+ times, it is very difficult to slide all the way up (to the lock point when you hear/feel a clip) with one hand. Sound: Probably the highlight of the phone... Loud ringer, great earpiece volume and best of all... the speakerphone kicks! Its super loud and clear even on the highest setting! I'd say its the closest thing I've seen comparable to the V60s. Ringer selection in the phone is decent, I'd say about 2-3 good standard "regular joe" ringers. Another cool feature is sliding open and closed sounds, every time the phone is open or closed it can make a different sound settable by the user. The phone comes preloaded with about 7 or 8+ open/close sounds to choose from (I dont know if we can D/L new sounds for it or not). Menu: Typical KX414 Kyocera menu, selectable between list or icon. Worst part of the menu- it does not flip... ie. when you get to the bottom you cant keep scrolling down to get back to the first item; your choice is to scroll all the way to the top or use the "back" key to exit and get back in Keypad and Layout: Well its a small phone, the keys are a little close together but not as bad as you would think for the size, the most inconvenient key is the "back" button, it is right next to the top half of the phone and being right handed I had a little difficulty getting it to press at times of fast menu accessing. All of the keys are flat and of course not raised so dialing without looking at the phone may be a little bit of a problem. All of the phone keys lock when the flip is closed, you must open the phone to answer and it will end the call when shut. Display: 65k Color screen is decent, pics show up nice and the screen seems like a great fit for the size of the phone. Of course the phone has default screen savers and wallpaper and with "get it now" pix can be D/L'd. Accessories: The leather case looks ridiculous, it locks around the bottom half of the phone and there is a removable (by snap clips) front that you have to unsnap to use the phone. There is a plastic belt holster available but it wasnt unpacked from our shipment yet to check it out. Phone comes with home charger only. Battery Life: Cant say yet, the battery seems to be a good size and is probably where most of the weight in the phone comes from. Without using the phone for a few days though I cant say how it will be. Overall: This is a great phone, I'm happy to have a good "Digital Only" handset that I would like to sell and this is one of them. The speaker volume and ringer volume are highlights of the phone, along with its great size will make this a popular seller. The intro price (of $99 on a 2yr) is a great price also. The only thing I could suggest until we get further input is extended warranty if you are doing a 2yr plan on this phone, my reason being is the slide feature, I could see this not recognizing when open and closed for dirt/dust or alot of use down the road. Just a little review, hope this gives ppl some things to look at when thinking of purchasing this phone. -dv

Great news guys, I just took a look at the plastic holster for this phone, it is awesome! It allows the phone to be slid open and closed while in the holster and it swivels (locking) like the V60 holsters it also has an opening for the speaker/ringer output. Thanks Dv8. The leather case looks ridiculous, it locks around the bottom half of the phone and there is a removable (by snap clips) front that you have to unsnap to use the phone. Is this the same case that's sold by Kyocera? It's the one that holds your credit cards and change and stuff like that. I was thinking about buying this with Kyo but if it's available at VZW I'll wait. Thanks again! |

While you're at it, do you have prices on accessories like car chargers and ext. batteries? Hopefully Body Glove will come out with a case for it, there are plenty of cheesy looking aftermarket faceplates for it at daydeal.com. Thanks in advanced.
