I wanted to know if anyone else is having problems similar to the one's I am having. I'm new here, and going to war with AllTel over this issue, so all help would be greatly appreciated. I bought my first 5135 in 11/02 after my 2035 died 1 1/2 years into service. At first, I really liked the 5135, and thought I had finally purchased a good phone. Unfortunately, in mid-December, not even a month later, the screen went out on my phone, and no longer showed any text. I took it to AllTel and they promptly gave me a new phone. I hoped that would solve it. However, beginning in April of this year I began to see 2 major problems. 1 of which much more frequent lately, but both are sporadic in nature. 1) Occasionally while making a call the phone will make a "dial-up modem" sound, and will not successfully place or answer any calls for the next 5 - 7 minutes. This has only happened on a few occasions, although once while I was lost in backwoods SC. 2) The bigger problem, which has become more frequent recently, is that sometimes the phone will quit making sound, regardless of vibrate mode or not. When it does this, all sounds cease, including the speaker. I cannot hear anyone, but they can hear me. Also, pushing buttons on the phone does not help or make any noise of its own. Invariablely I wind up burning up 5 - 10 minutes of call time as I place call after call, only to find that the sound is still mysteriously gone. Then, after a few minutes, just as suddenly as it starts, the sound will crackle and come back on, and I can once again here people. Has anyone else had this problem? |

SimplyHonda, I have a 5135 on Alltel also and it has been flawless for almost a year now. I would take it back to your service store and ask them to replace it. The people at the store here in Portage, MI have been outstanding. I had some initial problems with my service but I documented all of my contacts with Customer Service and the local manager has done everything humanly possible to make us happy. I was honest with them right from the get go about not being sure some of my problems weren't self inflicted, and after listening to everything I'd done the manager assured me that the problem was with the service, not anything I'd done. She gave me several different phones to try, tried different programming, etc., and kept at it until we were as satisfied as possible. The main problem is we're on the fringe of service in this area and there isn't anything she can do about that. Please consider giving them another chance. Good luck. Lynn
