I picked up my new SE 44 Slider from Alltel yesterday. What a great phone! It seems to be perfect for my needs. I spent a good deal of time yesterday adding voice dial tags to some of my contacts. It was working great yesterday. Today it will not work. I push the call key, wait for the prompt and then say the name or "dial" and it immediately gives me a message on the screen of "Voice Recognizer Deactivated". I called Alltel and they said they did not know. I then called Kyocera who said to take it to Alltel. This reminds me of a computer problem. You call Dell and they say "It's a software problem, call Microsoft". You then call Microsoft and they say "It's a hardware problem, call Dell." Can anyone help me? Thanks, Mike |

Okay, it's fixed. My Alltel business rep called me and said he had the same thing happen to his Slider. He had me do a "hard" reset and it now works just like it should. Hopefully this will be the end of the problems with the Voice Dialing. This is a great example of the value a good salesperson brings. Five minutes on the phone with him fixed what the Alltel Tech support and Kyocera Tech support lines couldn't fix. Mike |

Turn the phone off. Take out the battery for 5 minutes. Replace the battery. Turn it on. Once I did that the voice activation worked again. My rep thinks it has something to do with charging it while it is still on. I charged mine last night with the phone on and the voice dial is working fine this morning. Hope this helps.

Glad I could help. Don't you love this phone? With the Voice Dial and Voice Numerical Dial, I have not dialed a number since Wednesday. Mike

To all you slider fans. How is the RF, is the phone capable of holding a signal and making a clear call in a poor signal area?

I think its better than my 4500....I have never had problems with either my 2235 or the sly when it comes to signal...It will show less strength than my lg's, but it still can make a call on 1 bar whereas I cannot at times with 2 bars

I was driving through a tunnel in Virginia recently and the phone never lost coverage in a mile long tunnel. I thought that was extraordinary. I'm still learning about the features of the slider, but as of now I have the voice dial, voice recognition numerical dial, voice answering, and shortcuts set up, so it is a great little phone. SE44 is rated pretty high as far as reception. Currently, the 3585/3587 are the best as far as signal. RIP V60i. Im not a big fan of the slider, its buttons are a bit too small for me. You really can't blame the CS/TS reps as the phone is new. Kyocera should have been able to help you with that problem. Im glad your rep got your problem solved. Kyocera equipment has always had a bad rep. I had a Sprint Kyo and the display burnt out on me about two years ago, and while I was in the store, someone else had the same exact problem. I was in and out in 5 min, which is rare for an equipment problem. Speaking with TS, they frequently have problems with Kyoceras. I currently have a 3250, and today it "froze" up on me, forcing me to pull the battery out. This is the second time its happened. I don't want to be chicken little here, but I've heard a rumor that while charging the SE44 while it is on will burn up the display. This is nothing confirmed, but with your rep telling you your problem resulted from charging while it was on is confirmation that there are serious problems while charging this phone on. I would avoid doing it. |

The slider will warm up with extensive use. My wife is hooked on "Who Am I?" on the Axcess and plays it for hours during my free minutes. It warms up pretty good as she does this. I use a headset when I am using it, so I don't notice it, but after she plays it for a while it is pretty warm.
