Hi there, welcome to WA.

Nope all phones in the US do not use SIM. We have both CDMA & GSM. CDMA phones typically do not use SIM cards. Verizon is CDMA & do not use SIM. These are two different technology & the phones cannot be interchanged.

Also an ESN typically refers to a CDMA device. You can only unlock GSM to use with another GSM provider.

I am presuming Sweden is GSM, and so no a Verizon phone will not work in Sweden.

Hope this helps.

Yes AT&T is GSM & so is the LG Vu. Couple of things to keep in mind:

1. Although the LG is quad band GSM, it is only a dual band 3G (850/1900), so you will not be able to use 3G in Sweden(typically 2100 MHz in Europe & Asia).

2. Why the LG? In the US, GSM LGs get very mixed reviews & the consesus appears to be that LG's CDMA line is much superior to their GSM line.

As to the price, sorry I cannot help you there. Typically unlocked phones sell faster is what I have noticed.

Good luck to you & please keep us posted.

Yes i just discovered that is correct, wrong 3G band... just typical.
I dont know realy, LG is doing phones with very nice design so thats why i checked them out.
Any suggestion on a brand?
that might have a phone that would work with 3G in both Europe and US?

Typically to get quad band GSM w/triband 3G, it would have be a SmartPhone like Tilt, Epix, Blacjkack, IPhone 3G/3GS etc.

There are also such devices like my Treo Pro that a provider doesn't sell, which would have the added advantage of being unbranded & unlocked.

If you haven't already take a look at Phonescoop for detail specs.

The HTC G1 does not have AT&T 3G frequency, I am not sure if this is important to you. It is basically a T-mobile phone in the US. As for the phone itself I have heard very good things about. There are reviews floating around in this forum also. My forumite friend, SteveW has one & is very happy with it.

Sorry I don't know anything about the Incite.

I get the feeling that you are looking for touch screen phones & unfortunately I like phones with front facing QWERTY keyboards, and as such I know much more about them. I don't have recommendations on touch screen phones, sorry.

If you are not in a hurry, there maybe something in the upcoming phones. Here is AT&Ts.
