Service in Canada is different than in the States. Canada's four major carriers are Rogers, Bell Mobility, Telus Mobility, and Fido (which is owned by Rogers). There are other small carriers out there, but these four provide service in London, ON.

Virgin Mobile Canada is another choice. It differs from the big four in that they are specifically a prepaid plans, just as they are here in the States. Keep in mind that Virgin Canada is a separate entity from its US counterpart.

Here is a link to a site with more information on the carriers mentioned as well as others: Wireless Carriers and Cell Phone Calling Plans: Canada

Canadian carriers can be more expensive than those here in the US. Not sure why, but they are.

I have found that reception, at least along Canadian highways, is fantastic. Even through the middle of nowhere on the route of 401-402-403 from Buffalo to Michigan, I get service the entire route (including London)

This is a little late for a post but.....

I am living in Sarnia, Ontario, about an hour west of London. I will agree with you on Rogers Wireless. I have to say I have no complaints about lack of service in town or out on the highway as they are the largest carrier in Canada.
