Default moved from US to Canada

My parents bought Samsung a437 phones in the US. Now they've moved to Canada. How do they switch to have a Canadian phone number and get Canadian prepaid (i.e. no long term contract) service?

If it's a CDMA carrier (Bell Mobility or Telus Mobility) they're out of luck with the phone they have since Bell Mobility or Telus Mobility will not allow ESNs that aren't in their system. If it's with Rogers and they have an unlocked GSM handset they can use it there.

Plus the Samsung SGH-A437 is GSM only, primarily used on AT&T. If the phone is locked, you should get it unlocked for use on the Rogers network.
