The prepaid offering is called Mobi4U. The web page above doesn't say anything about it. You can get one (for a hefty premium) through International Cell Phones, World Phones, SIM Cards, Satellite Phones but I would advise waiting until you actually get to Vietnam. It's more than likely that in a major city (such as Ho Chi Minh City) you'll be able to pick up a card there. Check this out: Mobifone Portal :: | New Value Added Service and also check out Telestial International Cell Phones, World Phones, SIM Cards, Satellite Phones even though going through them you'll pay a hefty premium. | |

| If it were me I'd get one before I left home. A dual band basic phone will possibly cost only ~$20 delivered. I got a Nokia 8310 monochrome display phone (at one time a "high end" phone but hardly anything to write home about today) and actually got it NIB (new in box.) If you know what you're looking for you can get something inexpensive on eBay (where I got my Euro/Asian phone.) If it were me I'd get a phone before I left home. It can be a dual-band (900/1800) phone for use just in Europe/Asia or you can get a triband phone. If you get a triband make sure that it has 900 and 1800, 1900 and not 850/1800/1900 or get a quadband phone. Make sure it's unlocked! |
