Hi there, I reside in Canada but am frequently across the border and my husband is working in central California. I am looking at getting on the Verizon Family plan America choice with Canada, so that we will have more affordable and more reliable communications. Also for the times that I am in the US on my Canadian provider phone, I get gouged at .95/ min for roaming. Does anyone know where I can get a zoomable map for the coverage in Canada provided by this Verizon phone plan? Verizon tells me that neither of our phones on this plan will incur roaming charges in my area of Canada or anywhere in the US, and that there also will be no long distance for us. Any feedback or confirmation of this would be appreciated. Thanks |

BCWoman64, I have found the PRL (Preferred Roaming List), and it list Telus Mobility as roaming partner for BC. Their coverage map is here. COtech

Thank you for the speedy reponse COtech and the informative answer. So based on what I understand then, this will be a great plan for our needs. Both phones will be able to make and receive calls in either country as long as we are in an area covered by either Telus Mobility in Canada or Verizon in the US, without incurring any long distance or roaming charges. It's been some time, but I don't recall paying any roaming fee's when I used my VzW phone in Vancouver. It was billed as long distance, but that was included in my contract. If I was billed for it, it certainly wasn't much as I would've noticed and I probably used my phone well over 900 minutes up there.

I live in Alberta, and I am wondering if verizon is available to Canadians, or is it only for Americans that travel to Canada? I am currently on a prepaid plan with Telus, and would much rather have a different carrier. Can anyone recommend anything other than Bell or Telus?
