Default Buying phone to use in canada?

Hi everyone,

I wasn't sure where I should post this... so I hope this forum is right! If not, I'm really sorry!

I was just wondering if it's possible to buy a mobile from overseas, like from Asia, or specifically Hong Kong, and use it in Canada? Because Canada seems to be so behind in mobiles... and basically any electronic devices...

I'm really un-informed regarding technology of any sort and all I've read is that it's possible to switch SIM cards? Which only FIDO and Rogers currently allow?

Thanks so much!

It depends on which carrier you have, if I believe it's Rogers that uses a SIM card, yes you can just make sure the phone has both 850 & 1900 Mhz on it to work properly throughout Canada & the US if you visit here.
