subsidy password

can anyone help me? ive just got a motorola slither of a friend. but it is asking for subsidy password which i dont have i got the phone minus sim the phone is originally orange network and im trying a vodafone sim in it please help:

You can call cingular to try to get the access password, your friend could call them (would be much more effective) as long as his account is in good standing. Aside from that you will have to "Unlock" the phone and should ask around regarding unlock companies that are reputable, most are like 20 or 30 bux with a turnaround time of around a week.

The "Orange" network referred to by the OP is the mobile provider Orange in the UK and not cingular's original network in the US which some people refer to as the "orange" network as opposed to the "blue" network which was the former AT&T Wireless network prior to cingular buying out AT&T Wireless. It's highly unlikely that cingular will be able to get unlock codes for an Orange branded phone, but who knows, it may be. If the original poster is not a cingular subscriber the likelihood of getting any subsidy code though is likely nil.

My mistake, I'm so used to seeing Cingular referred to as Orange or Blue that I made a bad assumption.
