GSM 1800 in the future?Most African countries have mostly GSM900.During this decade ,Will GSM 900 be phase out and the GSM 1800 will replace it.I want to see if I can use a Triband phone which has GSM 850/1900/1800 in most in the future.

1800 or DCS service is generally added when the 900 MHz network is at or near capacity. All GSM countries outside of the Americas have 900 MHz service. Many also have 1,800 MHz service. I know of no country that has only 1,800 MHz service. Today, tri-band GSM phones are not world phones any more than a Ferrari with 3 wheels is a sports car. The only true GSM world phone is a QUAD band. There are plenty of them made today. |
