OK I am having trouble receiving text messages from a friend. He has Alltel and I have Cingular. We both are able to send and receive Text Messages. The problem is when he tries to send me a text message he receives a message on his screen telling him that I am not subscribed to a messenging service. Which is untrue. We have both contacted our Providers and they told us that everything was fine with our plans and contracts. So what could the problem be? I have a LG 1400 and he has a Nokia 3585i. I used to have alltel but cancelled my contract early. I also kept the number. If that helps any. So...can anyone help me figure this out????

That same exact thing happens to my friend and his cousin. She has Cingular and he has ALLTEL.

I would suggest calling Cingular and having them put in a trouble ticket on the problem, describe the problem in as much detail as possible (time, dates, numbers etc.) It could be that the Alltel system is still showing you as a customer in their sms platform, and then not having anywhere to send the information, since you actually are on the Cingular sms system. My bet is the problem is somewhere internal with Alltel....so you friend should also submit a trouble ticket to Alltel. |

Oh, and don't let them sweep you under the carpet on this one, just because it's not a voice call, they still need to work the problem and resolve it for you.
