Question "Update" or "Upgrade" PRL for Sprint PCS?

I called two times to Sprinticon PCS Customer Service and the first time, the woman told me that she flagged both of our phones (1 account we share), and she said to call *2 and say to the automated voice: PRL Update.

I did that and the automated voice took me to "Technical Issues"

So I listened to the different options and no of them applied to me, so I hung up.

I called back a minute later and said "representative" and about four minutes later, and asked if my dad's account was flagged and she said it was, but she said to say PRL Upgrade, instead of PRL Update and she asked me if I waited 2-3 minutes for the update....

So I hung up once again, called back and said "PRL Upgrade" and again Claire took me to "Technical Issues".....

Am I doing something wrong, or is the rep doing something wrong?

***Also, is there a way that I could be connected to a department that knows what they are doing, or can I take the phone to a store to have the prl updated?***

**Which department could I be connected to that new what they were talking about?**

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

Telling the automated voice "PRL UPGRADE" is wrong. All the rep needs to do it flag your account. Anything else is BS.

    That's what I thought.

    Thanks for the information.

Is there any department that I can tell Claire that I wanted to be connected to that knows what they are doing?

This is really starting to me off...

I guess there aren't any knowleadable reps at the Customer Service center...

Not sure which department will do it best. Just yell at Claire "HUMAN!"

When you call *2 and you get the automated voice simply say: 'PRL update'. You should be transferred to tech support. You will have to speak with a live rep. Simply say to them these words (and only these words) "I would like to have my account flagged for an over the air PRL update". Don't mention anything more specific than that. If they try and haggle with you tell them something like you're at the Sprinticon store and they told you to call in and get the update. If they ask you what version you have say 10021 not 10023. But don't tell them anything more than they need to know unless they ask.

It took me 3 tries to get my account flaged for the new PRL. Everytime, the rep told me that I already had the latest update, which I didn't. It took a few hours of trying *2 before it would download! I wonder if the a680 takes a while to download the update or if Sprinticon's system is slow?

I just got both of our phones updated with PRL 10024.

I did just like Larry said to do.

I only took one try to do it, and I listened to their "music" (elevator type music) while the update took place.

I then restarted the phone and voila......10024......

Thanks to everyone who helped (Yankees and Larry).

I appreciate both of helping me.

Glad to hear you made. It sometimes takes a little bit of luck to get the right rep. Some will try to argue with you that you don't need the update or make excuses as to why it will be a waste of time getting the update. Once you learn what to say and what not to say to anything they might throw your way you can easily get them to do want you want. I'm the master at it.

Anytime. And Larry is right. Sometimes i will get someone who wont do it, and other times i get a person who says "sure, alright, all done"

I just tried and the rep said the reason I did not get the automatic update was my account was not flagged - not flagged because I had latest prl 10023. I said I wanted 10024 and he said his system said 23 was the latest.

But he did flag it for me. I called back in 5 minutes later, got the voice recording about the update, and after some music, I turned off the phone and turned it back on.

    Bam - PRL 10024.

    THanks Larry.

Yeah, I wish Sprinticon did that, or even do what Verizonicon does, and have you call a number like *228.

PRL updates with Sprinticon really aren't all that important. In fact if somebody told me I would have to go back to version 10011 I wouldn't sweat it at all.

fuuny but after i did a PRL update my phone doesn't even roam at a certain spot at work where as before it would switch to analog and i was able to call out, so how important is it to update your phone to every PRL that come out?
in my case i should have left my phone as is....

    Tony,

Updating your PRL had nothing to do with that. I can't give you an answer as to what happened but it wasn't because you updated your PRL.

No. Sprinticon doesn't really try to push their customers to update their PRL. Once in a while they do random automatic flags of certain customers so that they can get the update.
