Smartphone: How often do you have to restart your phone? I find that I need to re-start my phone probably every couple of weeks since for whatever reason the phone "searches" for my carrier but fails. I find that a simple re-start fixes that. Other than that I usually don't have any reason to re-start.

Re: Smartphone: How often do you have to restart your phone? I would say I probably reboot my phone about every 6-8 weeks.

Re: Smartphone: How often do you have to restart your phone? I've no idea how often the phone *needs* a restart if left on to run continuously. I have had to restart the phone on several occasions only a few hours after it has been powered on, but every time it was the result of my interactions -- installing/removing apps, force stopping services, etc. The longest I've ever had my phone on continuously is a week.

Re: Smartphone: How often do you have to restart your phone? Well, for me, since I am the owner of a business, have to leave my phone on in case something happens and the alarm company needs to contact me. If they cannot contact me, and they call the Sheriff's Office for a false call or alarm malfunction, I can be fined.

Re: Smartphone: How often do you have to restart your phone? I have 2 phones. My work one I switch off at night
I would also switch off my private one, but I use it as an alarm clock, so I just put it in flight mode. That one can stay on for days/weeks without a reboot. So I do a battery
pull maybe once every couple of days/weeks just as a kind of clean-up in case there's some app or something hanging I wasn't aware of. Understand communications. Visit Radio Raiders

RE: Smartphone: How often do you have to restart your phone? The only time I have rebooted my Lumia was when TuneIn Radio was acting funny. Other then that I never need to reboot. And I keep my phone on all the time.

Re: Smartphone: How often do you have to restart your phone? Err, turning off your phone is rebooting your phone!
- - - Updated - - -
That's what I've done with pretty much every phone I've ever had except my iPhone. Periodically my iPhone for whatever reason will lose the carrier (operator) and the only way to restore it is to re-start my phone. I don't know if it's iOS or the specific oddities of the phone, but I often find that every couple weeks I'll lose the carrier and have to re-start the phone.

Re: Smartphone: How often do you have to restart your phone? Not exactly.
Re booting a phone is usually performed for a problem situation as in the case of your iPhone losing signal. It usually consists of turning it off waiting a short period of time and then turning it back on.
Turning a phone off for a period of time as in my case, is usually performed because you don't want to be disturbed, on an aircraft, in a no cell phone zone etc. It is turned back on only after the particular external situation has changed.

Re: Smartphone: How often do you have to restart your phone? I think some phones don't actually turn off, they just mute the ringer and turn the screen off when you "turn it off".

Re: Smartphone: How often do you have to restart your phone? Hello Charlyee: Of all people I've met here, I was surprised that you would take this stand. As I one dictionary says, Reboot means "To turn (a computer or operating system) off and then on again; restart." It doesn't come with disclaimers or reasons. It is just the act of turning a device off and then later on again. The wait time between the two acts is inconsequential. I understand what you are getting at, but it really is splitting hairs.

Re: Smartphone: How often do you have to restart your phone? Hello KJ, I guess we will have to agree to disagree on this.

The intent of the poll, if I understand it right is to find out how often a person needs to reboot their Smartphone. By your reasoning my answer would be once/day and that would completely skew the results. Sorry but to me it is neither the same thing nor splitting hairs in the context of this poll. The SmartPhone Parade (2006-Now)

Smartphone: How often do you have to restart your phone? I usually restart my phone once daily by holding a set of keys down on my phone. Clears out any apps that has been inefficient on the phone.

Smartphone: How often do you have to restart your phone? I could go weeks without restarting my iPhone. I do it when it starts acting weird.

Re: Smartphone: How often do you have to restart your phone? HTC Vivid- I doubt I would need to often but because I am swapping SIMs on a regular basis it always installs 63 updates and takes longer than a Blackberry to start up... Hopefully the next update fixes this.
iPhone 4S- Can't remember the last time I did a hard reset.
Galaxy S3 (T999)- Twice in three months but the last firmware update fixed the screen problem that moved the unlock pattern out of reach.
