Default Help! Weird Wireless Problem

Hi,
Last week I bought a Boost Mobile i285 and had it activated. I was able to make and receive calls fine, or so I thought, until I tried to call my new wireless number from my landline to set up my voicemail. After dialing the number, it never even connected, never rang, nothing. I called Boost customer support and told them about it, and they said that everything appeared to be running fine and suggested that the problem was with my local landline company (BellSouth). I spoke to 3 different reps from BellSouth, and they all acted as if they'd never heard of the problem before. One of the reps dialed my number and was able to get through fine. The last rep I spoke to tried to call my wireless number and got a message saying that the number was not in service. After I got off the phone with her, out of curiousity I dialed my wireless number and got the same message. So when I called Boost again and told them that now I'm getting a no service message, they did a master reset and changed my number. Now I'm back to hearing nothing when I dial the new number. Someone please help! Thanks in advance.

Also, I cannot get into my voicemail to set it up, but I suspect that's a different topic

I had something similar happen to me several years ago with Sprint, right after they split the 216/440 area codes, I had a 216 number issued that the orginal prefix was moved to the 440 area code. When people would try to call me from half of the city of Elyria (there were 2 switches in Elyria) the call would route correctly, but from the other side of town, it would route the call to the number in the 440 area code, even though you would dial 216. The problem was with Alltel (the local phone provider) and after several calls to them, they figured out the problem, updated the switch and everything was good.

So when they told you it was your local phone provider that was the problem, they are right, they need to update their equipment to recognize the number that you have.

Thanks so much for the reply The first guy I spoke to at BellSouth said something similar, but unfortunately we were disconnected before he could help me out. Everyone else I spoke to acted like I was just plain nuts. Anyway, I guess I'll have to call them back and fight with 'em some more.

Thanks again!
