Being connected 100% of the time...

Okay, so now with alot of people (almost all the people you talk with on a regular basis) having either a cell phone or landline (some kind of telephone) here is what I have noticed...

EXPECTATIONS

A) People expect you to be ''in touch'' 24/7
B) Getting worried if someone does not respond within a certain time frame (especially children)
C) Expecting people to always get your SMS

REALITY

A) Some people turn their phones off, some just don't have their phone ''on them'', and yet some are actually (gasp!) outside their coverage area

B) Some people might be in a meeting, jogging, driving or doing something else important that requires their time
C) Sometimes the system does fail; and your SMS is not delivered

Can you think of any expectation/reality situations which take place in today's society with the telephone (be it cell phone or landline).

PS: I know I'm guilty of thinking that if someone doesn't respond to my voicemail within a certain time-frame that they are ignoring me. Which *might* be true... but it's usually just because they weren't near their phone.
