Hey guys. I am kind of behind on the new phone technology. Im afraid I still have a motorola razor. My question is, why is it that the cell phone companies around here dont offer an equivalent phone anymore. I went in to renew my contract, and they wouldnt offer me a decent phone for free. As a matter of fact, they dont even offer a phone that is near as good as my razor. It really makes me sick. Guys... why are phones so expensive. I dont understand why these phones cost hundreds and hundreds of dollars like they do. They are little pieces of junk, ever last one of them. They break if you drop them once. And then they make your phone so that if you get caught in the rain, you'll just get rain damage to your phone. And then they wont help you out with your phone, unless you have a stupidly expensive insurance policy. Cell phones are needed for everyday living. Everyone is complaining about gas prices,, but what about the cost of cell phones. |

joewv06, Hello and Welcome to WA. I moved your posts from the Blackberry Unlocking thread and combined them into one. I personally don't think that all phones are pieces of junk, many people drop their phones and continue on with them with just superficial scratches. As for rain, electronic devices are not meant to get wet nothing exclusive about phones. There are plenty of inexpensive and/or free phones available, most of the high-end phones are basically mini computers so the price is high. Just my 2 cents.

Cell carriers are businesses, just like everything else. It's called free enterprise. Remember, cell phones are a convenience, NOT a necessity. We survived just fine before their mass market adoption. I'm not defending cell companies or their practices, but they are no worse than credit card companies, banks, the oil industry, the auto industry, television and advertising. The list goes on and on. Sorry your carrier doesn't offer a "free" phone you like, but that's life. Considering all that's going on these days, there are a lot more serious issues to worry about.
