Default Push vs Fetch Battery usage?

Does PUSH email use less network/battery than Fetching mail every 15min to 1 hour? Does anyone know?

I'm using Push Yahoo mail. No MobileMe or Exchange updating of calendars, meetings, etc.
Just for my personal email.

So if, say, I get on average 6 emails per day on a random basis, am I using more battery life using Fetch every (hour, 30min or 15 min), compared to Push? Why check main 24 to 96 times per day just for 6 emails?

I'm assuming that Push works like SMS...when there is an email it gets sent to your phone, but otherwise there is no extra network connection than there is for SMS. Is that how it works?

Also, if I went manual (instead of Fetching) I can do that many more times a day than the 6, just to see if I have email.

Apple encourages not to use Push if you are having battery issues (which i'm not), but for just email, it seems that it could be less of a drain than manual or even 1 hour fetching.

I'm I looking at this wrongly? Anyone know the actual technology?

Thanks. I will write apple tech support also.
